So far ( just put in over last weekend) works great for backup power for cell booster (Updated)
Had looked for this type of switch for a long time for use at our cabin in remote and deep woods in S Indiana about an hour from a major city. We are in a big valley on a small lake and do not have interior cell service with out our Wilson 70 db booster (a must have is the newer self adjusting unit that always maintains reception and not the older manually adjusted units). We had almost no OTA TV with out Winegard LNA-200 boosters on 2 antennas in attic and a Denny's stacker UHF/VHF antenna high above roof, and now have 21 stations and all major networks in perfect HD. Bought a used 15 device Verizon 7730L hotspot (using the little known Verizon no contract $65/mo UNLIMITED data only available on their PREPAID plan with auto pay) for internet, Netflix and Amazon TV (binge watch in high def w/the unlimited data plan) and to now run Amazon Cloud cams and Canary security cams. When power went out as it often outdoes with power cables running through the woods, these electronics all went down. You had to be there in person in the second floor utility closet to switch the Belkin 12-Outlet Power Strip Surge Protector with 10-Foot Cord that powers all the boosters including Wilson and a Netgear Nighthawk WIFI extender, from the AC plug to then plug into GpPower's 175-Watt Modified Sine Wave Inverter (no fan =low draw) and then clamp onto the deep cell trolling battery next to the inverter. Now with this badboy transfer switch installed, when the AC power goes off, it auto switches to the plugged in inverter connected to the deep cycle battery, and then automatically switches back to AC when restored. Ran long USB cords to some of the cameras off the same surge strip so they also function when AC power is out. Wilson booster draws 20W which is .17 amp which means that deep cycle trolling battery could run everything on the power/surge strip for a long, long time. Will prob run a long power cord to the hotspot which is near the Wilson interior panel downstairs. BE SURE that you order and correctly wire the 3 prong male adapter plug and female adapter plug for similar uses, as 2 wires from the transfer switch have no connectors. It comes with a marked 3 way male plug to plug into the inverter. Black wire is hot and is for the narrow flat plug, white wire is the return and is for the wider flat plug, and green is ground. I'll try do an update in a few months, but so far it's perfect for what we wanted. Now my wife and kids can make calls and use the internet from inside cabin if power is out, with out me trying to explain over the phone how to connect to and switch on the inverter in the storage closet by flashlight. That is priceless and calls for a beer. (Update 1/8/20) Still working great. When the power goes off, auto switches to deep cell batter on 175w inverter to power wifi security cameras. The jetpack mifi has its own large battery so we can still have the peace of mind with security during power outages.

Problem solved
I bought two of these and they work as expected for over a year already. They allow automatic switching between two power sources where one is the primary and the other is a backup. For example, in my case some smaller applications in my house work from an outdoor solar system, when it has enough AC left. When it runs low, the switch automatically passes the supply to a normal house outlet it is plugged into. And when the solar system comes back, it flips the power to it. They do consume some wattage in idle, but not a lot. It really solved the issue for me. To do what I did I think the connection should be the opposite between the two cables vs. what the instruction says (just FYI). I recommend these switches.

I have two of these Xantrex transfer switches
This is a 15a transfer switch so if your load is higher than 15a this won't work for you. I installed the first one in a shed out back to protect a chest freezer there. I have shore power as the primary power and the inverter input is from two deep cycle batteries and a Xantrex sine wave inverter. The batteries are kept charged by solar panels and a solar charge controller. If power is lost this should be able to keep the freezer cold for a very long time. The transfer switch is easy to install. It comes with one 15a plug installed for grid power but the inverter supply and the output line is open wires. I bought two three prong plugs (male/female) and wired the plugs. You just have to make sure you connect the white and black wires to the correct terminals. I also want to say the transfer time is very fast. When I tested it I was watching an LED light and it didn't even blink during the transfer. Also it is NORMAL seeking power meaning when the grid power input has power the switch will go this source. For the second transfer switch I plan to connect to my refrigerator inside the house. The primary source I want to be a a solar generator that is kept charged by solar and the backup supply will be the grid power. If there isn't enough sun to keep the solar generator charged then the switch will transfer over to the grid to keep the refrigerator powered. This will save from 1.5 to 2 kWh/day in utility power cost. I recommend this transfer switch for projects that are less than 15 amps.

Does what is says.
This is nothing more than a contactor in a box. A nice box with mounting points. Thus, there are no logic circuits or things to adjust or control (well, it's technically relay logic!). Whatever is plugged into Input 2 (labeled Utility) will energize the contactor and power the load. Input 2 must be removed to switch back. Both hot and neutral are switched. Ground is continuous on all 3 sides. Specs say <20ms to Input2/Utility, <120ms back to Input 1 (time the coil needs to de-energize). You will need to supply connectors or hardwire the Output and Input 2 cables which are all 12" long. 120V 15A. Coil draws 1.75W/15mA from Input2, otherwise zero watts, noise, or heat. ETL listed.

Works OK, but not UPS switching speed
Works OK, but the switching speed is not that good. I an UPS powering my network rack and I can hear the UPS kicking in for a second, while this device switches

Reliable Single Circuit Auto Transfer Switch
Used it with a Jackery 3000 watt hour solar generator to run an oil furnace. Works very well. Energy Star furnace that pulls only 480 watts. Installed for an 89 yr old widow. UL certified. Leads short but well made. UPDATE have now installed two more on oil boiler with 4 pumps and gas furnace. New boilers and furnaces pull less than 400 watts to start. Have 8-10 hours of solid run time with Jackery 3000 and this transfer switch. Don’t believe the old estimates of 800 -1000 watt draw.

Works fast, fully automatic and reliable.
I installed a residential fridge in my RV and this works perfectly. When on shore power, the fridge is powered. When driving or dry camping, it runs off my inverter (does not have to be a Xantrex by the way) the transfer is super fast and reliable. Kudos to Xantrex.

Well made
This is a well made switch which operates quietly, is relatively compact, and does what's supposed to. Only complaint is the wires are a little on the short side for my installation. Overall, though, this works really well.

Wires are very short, wrong plug
Packaging was a little strange with a few things thrown in. Maybe it was a return ? I was quite disappointed with the length of 2 of the wires as they came in at 14 inches and the one with the plug to the inverter is just under 6 feet. Now I need to get a connection box in order to reach the panel in my RV. Should also mention that it came with a 20 amp plug on the invertor wire so I had to cut it off and buy a male plug for 15 amp

Installed this in my travel trailer off of the inverter, works exactly how it should and is silent too, was expecting Atleast a click when it comes on but it’s dead silent, 10/10

Works like a charm... fonctionne comme un charme!
It works like a charm... I used it with Xantrex XPower 400 in my RV to distribute 110v current on all electronic devices (tv, blue-ray, ipad, ipod, laptop, stereo, phone charger) circuit. I just cut the 110v cable and put this product in between and connect it to the inverter. Le tout fonctionne comme un charme... je l'ai utilisé en combinaison avec le Xantrex XPower 400 dans mon motorisé sur un de mes circuits où plusieurs appareils électroniques sont branchées (tv, blue-ray, ipad, ipod, laptop, stereo, chargeur téléphone). J'ai juste coupé le circuit 110v et j'ai mis ce produit entre les deux et connecté à l'ondulateur.
