PERFECT...now.
The aim was a bit off on the first laser, not by much, but still not accurate enough to use it. I have the same brand in 9mm and it has flawless aim. Not sure why the 40 caliber wasn't the same. I've requested a replacement to see if it's better...stay tuned. I should have the replacement on in about 2 days. UPDATE: The replacement laser is perfect, but the cap prevents proper seating, due to the ejector. I managed to use a separate flat plug which held the batteries firm. I did confirm the gun needed no alignment whatsoever. Sightmark should provide a flat cap for this model laser.

A very practical tool for those that carry concealed.
Despite reading all the bad reviews about low battery life, I have not been disappointed. However, I am only checking my aiming point with fixed sights on a Kahr K40 and not sighting in a scoped firearm. Since this is a weapon I carry daily, it is easy to chamber the boresight, and actually practice drawing my weapon from concealment UNLOADED and see how my sights line up with the dot on my target. It is also great if you can have a partner observe to see if your dot crosses any part of your body during deployment. Do this over and over, and your aim point at different distances becomes natural, and most of all...SAFE! I did rotate the boresight inside the barrel in 1/4 turns, and found it lining up almost exactly the same at every turn.As a former Marine, safety is paramount, and this is one heck of a tool. Only shoot when you have to, and when you have to...HIT YOUR TARGET!

seriously?
so i ordered one of these from optics planet.. NEVER showed up.. got my refund.. ordered from amazon.. it finally arrives.. and this thing is sighted so far high and right.. you'll never hit ANYTHING using it to sight in your other laser sight.. i bought it to check my sight replacement on my glock and to quickly sight in my viridian x5l gen 2.. lined up w/o hardly any effort at all. wasn't paying much attention to the sights on the gun itself and figured eh.. whatever.. and squeezed off a round.. from 50 feet.. missed the target all together. glanced at the sights themselves.. lined up perfect.. laser is WAY off. decided to drop the boresight back in just to double check things and this time.. paying more attention.. yeah.. that thing is so far off.. there's no way you could hit a thing with it.. ridiculously far off. at 50ft.. we're talking a good 12 inches right and about 4 up. i could do a quick iron sight zero on my viridian and be more accurate than this thing.. its complete garbage and a serious waste of 30-40 bucks. will be contacting sightmark as this is simply unacceptible. addendum to my review. after pestering sightmark (sellmark) for 3 weeks.. a rude and abrupt phone call to their office got me an email address to email directly and almost hung up on. the email i sent finally i guess got the point across as i got an email back with an RMA number. i do believe this is the last time i will be dealing w/ sightmark (sellmark) for any future purchases. next time i need a boresight, i will simply spend the full 100 bucks and actually get one from a company a bit more reputable and worried about their customer service than peddling crap and not looking out for their customers.

Laser way off NOT
Loaded batteries, got a bright laser light, inserted it in chamber. At 25 feet it was 2 FEET above the fixed sight picture (confirmed by the laser sight/flashlight already affixed to the pistol (Glock 22 Gen4) which is in sync with the fixed sights). Seemed loose in the chamber and moving it around with my finger did not seem to affect the problem. It seems the laser light itself is off, although I don't understand why turning the cartridge 180 degrees does not put the laser 2 FEET below. It remains 2 FEET above. Can anyone tell me the problem? Anyway, I'm in the process of replacing it through Amazon and will follow up this post. UPDATE: Thanks to a post I read here on Amazon I found I was inserting the cartridge wrong. I was afraid it would hang up in the chamber so I was carefully placing it in the barrel and slowly moving the slide forward. WRONG!!! You have to place it in the the chamber and let the slide go forward like you would on a normal cartridge. Vast improvement. I was able to adjust my laser sight on the laser from this product without wasting a lot of ammo on the range.

Can use in a 10mm too! Very Bright Red Dot and Very Good Product - Very Happy with my purchase!
I bought this for use in my 10mm because they don't make one for it. But since the .40 S&W is in reality a 10mm Short, I figured it would work. I had to wrap two layers of Scotch tape around the part that fits into the rifling to get it to fit tight enough, but I was able to hit a one gallon jug of water at 40 yards the first shot! After that, it was easy to get it fine tuned to dead zero. Very bright red dot. Very happy with purchase.

Excellent!
I'm very pleased with this product. Solid brass, nice fit and finish. I bought it to make a 17 HMR bore sighter, after reading all of the bad reviews on Amazon about the cheap ones. I turned a brass adapter to go in the 17 barrel, and accept this unit on the other end. If I had one complaint about this thing, it's that there is no on/off switch. To turn it on, you tighten the cap. OK, two complaints. The other is that since you have to remove the batteries to turn it off, there is not really a secure place to keep them in the pouch they give you. So plan on finding something yourself to store it in...

Sightmark .40 S&W Boresite
Great product. Bought both 9mm and 40 cal. Tested to make sure laser was true by rotating on a hard surface and observing laser point at 15yds. Laser point stayed, did not scribe circle, then used to site Veridian Green laser. It was a snap. Took less than 2 minutes. Both boresights fit my S&W M&P's snugly. I remove from bore by gently nudging with eraser end of pencil. I had no problem with batteries but would like to have a closed compartment in case to hold batteries and extras so they don't fall out. Currently I tape them to small cardboard and put in case. 1 case holds 2 boresites so it worked perfectly for me.

Worked as advertised
It fit in the chamber of my Glock 20 gen4 fine...and more importantly, was easy to remove. The laser was bright and well defined. It came with a nice carry pouch but only 1 set of batteries. No on and off switch. Had it included extra batteries or been rechargeable, that to me is 5 stars.
