Product Description Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) knows what it's like to come back from the dead. The ex Indian Captain has now come back in the avatar of the Coach of the Indian Women's National Hockey team. A team that exists more on paper and less in reality. The team is a rag-tag bunch of girls with their own agenda. A bunch of girls who have forgotten what it is like to play for the love of the game. Of playing because you want glory for your country. Not because you want a pensioned job or a government flat. They have all forgotten the sharp thrill of just holding the hockey stick, keeping their eyes on the ball and playing for all they are worth. They have played every game but hockey to make sure they get selected every year in the Indian National team. But what does it really mean to play for the Indian National team? To play for India? The girls have never known the thrilling energy of being Team India. Of giving their all to see their country's name on a trophy. But Kabir Khan, once a captain, now forgotten, does. He knows what it takes to get there. And what it means to return empty handed. This time, he wants to make sure that it's different. He knows there are no second chances. Despite his past, he believes that if only the girls played as one, anything would be possible.Because Kabir Khan believes that it is not that we can't win. It's just that we have never believed we can.Chak De India is the story of a coach's fight of making his team, Team India by overcoming their diverse backgrounds, by learning to use everything that life hurls on them as a secret weapon. It's a story about honesty, sincerity and integrity. A story to remind the nation of its National sport. Review With a strong screenplay, Shimit s direction is first rate. He has ensured there isnt even a single dull moment. Every scene makes a impact. Also the feel of the movie is so real that it makes you cheer and pray for the team to win. The background music is brilliant so is the cinematography.Shahrukh Khan is the heart and soul of Chak De India. He has just delivered arguably his best performances in his career. It fills your heart with happiness to see the actor in Shahrukh in full form. He portrays the role of Hockey coach with a lot of dignity, intensity and charm. Undoubtedly the best performance of the year. The team of girls are exceptionally good. Characters of Preethi and Komal stand out.Overall, this is a must watch for every Indian. The performances, the screenplay, the direction are just perfect. You cant ask or expect more. Is there a negative? Yup, the intermission.. It makes you restless!! --platform47.com

Finally, subtitles!
It has its cheesy moments and is pretty predictable, but I have a soft spot for this movie. An enjoyable underdog story, feel good, cathartic, with some humour thrown in too.

Great film!
A funny, interesting film, starring the lovely Sharrukh Khan, focusing on India's official national sport - field hockey. The characters of the girls in the team are all different and from an outsider's point of view it was great to see the huge diversity of India's population which often isn't portrayed in Bollywood films. The quality of the dvd was also excellent.

Chak De!!!
No matter how many times I watch this, it always feels like the first time. SRK really underplays the character beautifully letting the girls take centre stage. If only he didn't ham in all his other movies. Fave characters are Balbir and Komal. They are absolute crackers.

A Winner
Bollywood! Hockey! SRK! Three of my favourite things. The Chak De Girls are great, their characters shine out in the film. I love the scene in McDonalds!

chaka de india
fantastic indian film with subtitles. The music makes this film but the storyline is also a rousing one. Brillant acting & lump in the throat scenes throughout. My first time watching Indian movies - it wont be the last. Thouroughly enjoyable!!!

Takes on all the discrimination in India but perhaps a too well worn formula
It doesn't really say anything more insightful than western equivalent movies, though it does it with SRK style heart, still feels very westernised. Older Bollywood was more confident in its own message and therefore was much more original with a deeper more impactful message. Having said that this film was apparently impactful in India so perhaps it is trying to take the best from western culture.

Interesting but not your song & dance type Bollywood
This is a more realistic and thoughtful movie that is more about uniting the regional differences of India into a cohesiveness as a national identity.I'm not a sports lover yet I found the hockey quite watchable. It isn't so much a sports movie but rather a story about personalities and nation.SRK is restrained but excellent. He is not really the main focus of the movie though as he steps back and allows the girls centre stage. Given that they are mostly unknowns and not even actors mostly the girls did a great job.A world match is played out in Melbourne (where I am from) and I must say they made the place look good - made me want to visit it!While there is background music, this isn't a song and dance Bollywood - no dances and one sporting song.I benefited in my understanding of India from watching it and it is a movie they can be justly proud of.
