Night Dive studios have done a superb job (as always) in bringing this game from 1994 to modern audiences with a stylized retro look to the aesthetics and updates to the combat and user interface. Make no mistake, there is plenty of jank to this game that are symptoms of trying to adapt a PC immersive sim style game (where mouse and keyboard is king) to a console with a single controller to access everything you need. Some of the controller bindings can't be changed as you'll be fighting against the controls (especially in regards to inventory) while trying to learn the rest of the game. But if you get beyond all that BS and persevere, you'll find a game that quickly rewards you for your exploration and time while treating you like an adult with an IQ in the double digits (unlike most modern gaming). You wont be playing the game for the combat as its nothing special, but the world building and sense of exploration is like no other as it's core design still holds up being the grand-daddy of beloved games like Bioshock and Dishonored. Being a massive fan of games like Deus Ex, Bioshock, Thief and Prey (all immersive sims), I can highly recommend the System Shock remake warts and all. Just watch out for accidentally hitting the button to auto sorting your inventory or scrapping all junk items every 5 seconds...
