Works Exactly as Described
This is my first powered coffee grinder, and the experience has been overwhelmingly positive so far. The OXO Brew Compact Conical Burr Coffee Grinder (Model: 8720800) is everything I was hoping for when I started researching conical burr coffee grinders that I could actually afford. Just load whole beans into the top and hit the button. To prevent damage to the machine, the grinder runs for 40 seconds unless you stop it by hitting the button again. For a full hopper, that is not enough time to grind all of the beans, but I just hit the button again. You are supposed to run the grinder for about ten seconds with no beans before cleaning it anyway. I see a lot of complaints about the cleaning process, but I don't agree and don't understand the big deal. The hopper/upper grinder body, grounds receptacle, removable burr grinder, and bottom motor quickly separate into four pieces, and are easily brushed clean. I had a cheap three piece set of natural bristle pastry brushes in my utensil drawer, and have now dedicated one for cleaning the coffee grinder. It takes just a few seconds and it is totally clean. I've had none of the static issues mentioned by other reviewers, possibly because of my natural fiber brush. My beans are also freshly bought. There is a small amount of grounds residue that falls out during cleaning, but I wipe the countertop with a cloth or paper towel and it is gone. It takes less time than it does to rinse out my drip coffee maker and refill it with fresh water. The only question is long-term durability, so I will let you know about that in a few years. At setting "7" I have amazingly uniform, perfectly ground coffee that produces a wonderful brew with none of the bitterness or aftertaste of store-bought ground coffee.

Best single serving grinder!
This grinder is fantastic. The reviews that talk about the grinder arriving used? Ignore them. When you get the box, it states they test their grinders with a small amount of coffee beans before packaging and may be residual coffee bean in the grinder. Complaints about static? Thats normal for grinders. Some grinders handle static better than others, but in simple terms, when you grind the beans at a high speed, you are actually stripping electrons which creates a charge imbalance, thus you have static. THANKFULLY they include a mini glass water spray bottle in the box. Spray your beans in the top hopper 3-4 times before grinding, shake em a little bit, then grind. This should drastically minimize the static in most cases. The footprint of this machine is what made it so attractive to me. It's truly compact and serves all of my coffee needs. You dont really need a hopper bigger than this 50g for at home use. You should be grinding your beans fresh every time you brew anyways. Only time I need more than 50g of bean at a time is if im making multiple cups for multiple people or if I'm making cold brew. It's so easy to use though, that running through a 2nd hopper of beans is such a none issue. Extremely easy to take apart and clean. Quieter than my last machine I bought 5 years ago. Grounds are consistent enough is size across grind sizes. Just PLEASE read the manual and the notices on the box. So many complaints I read that made me hesitant in buying this were explained literally on the box. The moment I opened it, read everything and tested, I fell in love with the machine.

Compact yet capable.
Very compact and well-made grinder. If you have been using a blade grinder until now, this is a good alternative. The burr grinder has adjustments for different grinds and grinds the coffee CONSISTANTLY. I recommend this product.

Great Grinder - A Little Messy - Overall No Regrets
What I love about this grinder: Easy to dial grind size: the grind is extraordinarily consistent, and I have dialed in the perfect grain size for my Chemex pour-over. Quiet: this may be the quietest coffee grinder I have ever used. I don't think it's efficiently possible to make a grinder silent, but this one is significantly quieter than grinders I have used in the past. What I don't like: Very hard to clean. This grinder has sort of an awkward setup, after removing the grinder to access the ground coffee, grind residue is left clinging to the grinder component. Because of how you must disassemble the grinder, it is very hard to not get coffee grinds on the counter or other surfaces. It's a small sacrifice to pay for an otherwise quality product. I have no regrets on the purchase, but think it could use some work on design to mitigate grind mess.

Surprised At The Difference It Makes
I love this grinder. After doing a bit of research I learned how awful my last, very basic grinder was, and all the reasons why stepping up my grinding game was a necessity. This OXO model, which was consistently the top recommendation across the board for a quality grinder under $100, has been great from the start. It’s on the quieter side imo for a bean grinder, it’s pretty easy to take care of, and I love how little room it takes up on the countertop. Zero complaints for me.

Works, but has issues
First, I am a huge fan of OXO products - I couldn't even tell you how many I own, so when I saw this grinder with the size and specs I needed, I didn't hesitate. On the plus side, the grind is even and adjustable with lots of gradations. Since it's plug-in, it has plenty of power and grinds fairly quickly, even on fine grinds. I don't find it overly noisy and overall it's quite solidly built. It's a little big, given it's capacity, but fits in on our counter pretty easily. On the negative side, it creates a lot of static electricity - enough, that OXO includes a little spray vial to dampen the beans before grinding and even using that, with a fine grind in a dry climate, it's a problem. They also include a ring that fits on the top of the grounds cup to make it easier to transfer the coffee, but even with that, somehow coffee ends up all over! Ironically, getting the grounds from the cup into the fabulous OXO Rapid Brew coffeemaker is a particular challenge. I ended up making a glossy paper funnel to act as an adapter. I think if you're using a V60 it will be easier and less messy. Finally, while it's not a large chore to clean it, it's not quick, either. The instructions warn strongly against rinsing or washing the burr area, so a toothbrush and air blower have to do the job. Unfortunately, that still leaves coffee oil which develops a smell after a while. With a better fitting to pour the grounds out and an easier cleaning process this would be a five-star product.

Nice compact grinder with consistent grinds for smaller brew setups with a consistent grind.
This is a solid compact grinder that can grind enough coffee for a few cups of coffee at a time. I typically weigh out about 20g coffee beans for 300ml water because of the single cup brew machine limitation I have due to space constraints, but I think you might be able to grind 40g+ of coffee beans for bigger brewing capacities or multiple cups at a time. The grind is very consistent, as expected of a burr grinder, with minimal dust that ends up as mud in your brewed coffee. It has 15 marked and stepped settings for grind coarseness, with half points between each marking/stop. I’ve been using a medium-fine setting of 6 for the drip machine but will try out the larger coarseness settings for a French press and cold brew, and possibly a fine espresso grind on a manual espresso press I’m currently shopping for. Is also fairly easy to clean using a Takavu brush that I ordered from Amazon separately. It comes with a small spray bottle to spray the coffee beans before grinder to reduce static, but I haven’t bothered with this step yet.

The perfect grinder for AeroPress brewing
I use an AeroPress for my coffee and this grinder feels like it was purpose-built with an AeroPress in mind. Its quiet, compact, easy to fine-tune the grind, and the pour spout for the grinds fits the AeroPress opening perfectly. You trade some speed for noise reduction, it takes about twice as long as my larger grinder, but for a single cup brew it's a much-appreciated trade-off. The grinder also comes with a little spritzer bottle that completely eliminates the static from grinding that causes all the grinds to stick to the walls. Another nice touch if you don't want to wait a minute for the static to dissipate.

Remember that the quality of the coffee beans you use is very important!
Excellent coffee grinder! Despite that is made in China, works very well. I was looking for a compact electric burr grinder, and after so much research, this is the smallest one and reliable I fund. Of course, the ones made in Europe are much more effective, but for household use, it works fantastic. Coffee ground settings from very tiny (for espresso) or very corse for regular coffee drip machine and french press. Easy to store in a deep drawer. Remember that the quality of the coffee beans you use is very important!
