40 -50 ish , 1/2 inch to 4 inch long - most applications tea use 1 innch , rice pilaff 1 inch per cup of dry rice, juicing 1 inch per 32 to 48 ounces , smoothies 1 inch per batch.So you see there are quite a few in a pound ,and they go really far, just place them in a paper bag on a paper towel after they arrive , should you not be able to use them before they start to gry out ,you can freeze them ,or continue to dry them out naturally and grate them later - absolutely no loss if handled properly . I am a retired Executive Chef- fresh organic always, who now leans towards natural and homeopathic medicines, Food is medicine and medicine is food !IMHO : Hope this is hepful.

I would love to purchase some of this turmeric, but with 16 sellers . . .many with low ratings, sounds like a crap shoot. Recommend a seller?

ibought turmeric and throw out a half of them it was not fresh i hope amazon will change from whom they buy and than i will buy alot i love fresh turmeric
