U1 Pro Multitool Folding Utility Knife with Folding Screwdriver

The OKnife U1 Pro has won out as my every day carry. The thumb stud is eminently flickable, and I am generally a fan of the "tool-less" clip for the blade that both reveals more of the razor and is fairly easy to change (it's not really tool-less, as you'll almost certainly want to use the included lever to really tighten it all the way down, but in a pinch you could probably get away with hand-tightening). Personally, I appreciate the simplicity of carrying a utility-blade knife. It's (usually) not as stylish as a "real" knife, but I carry my knife to use it -- being able to keep it sharp with a low-effort blade change and not needing to worry about "ruining" the blade means I use it for everything (except food). The addition of the bit driver is what makes this my top EDC choice. I also carry the Oknife 12-piece bit set (which I would strongly recommend if you purchase this knife). This combination allows me to work with a lot of fastener use-cases without having to go get my tools, and removing this hurdle often means I fix something when I see it vs. making a mental note to do it later. The bits aren't full-size like the Milwaukee Fastback, almost certainly an inspiration for this knife -- but the Oknife is also significantly less bulky. The bits aren't always the exactly what I would want for the problem at hand but generally are enough for the kind of small tasks that you would want to do without a full toolbox. You get some nice variety with the separately-sold 12 bit pack (including a pencil!) and I like knowing I'm covered there, but you could probably get away without it as I use the included philips/flat 90% of the time (allen/hex bit is the other one I'll generally use). I like to run a ceramic blade in mine which seems to hold it's sharpness for near forever (although chips easy) -- I recommend giving them a shot. The only thing I'd love to see is maybe a flipper tab/push-button release for the utility blade (I really liked this on my Ti Oknife U1), and possibly some ultra-lightweight scales (carbon or al? I would love to minimize my pocket weight). The only thing that could beat this for me is a knife with the same features but a bit more style to it -- and so far, that doesn't exist.

I own a lot of these types of razor knives- both popular, name brand, ones and cheaper ones. This is by far the most compact, easy to carry, one I own! The blade is easily deployed using the stud with a simple flick of your thumb or pulling the crossbar lock and flicking your wrist. The handle material feels great in the hand and I love the color, kind of a coyote brown. The bit holder completely disappears into the handle. It sits perfectly flush, I thought they sent me the wrong one at first because I didnt even see it, lol! When its locked open there is no play at all, its very tight! The button lock is just as nice. The pocket clip is exactly how I like them to be. It's a super deep carry clip, doesnt stick out at all. It is recessed into the scales and the screw heads sit flush into the clip, no way for it to get caught on your pocket. Clip is firm enough to stay put but not so firm that its hard to utilize! Be sure to get Oknife's 10 piece double-ended bit set, very handy to have all those bits! I used the torn bit just this morning to help install some parts on another "tool". This is WELL worth the money, BUY IT! You'll be very happy with the quality.

Huge olight fan. I have the olight pen, olight pen 2 , and 3 different olight flashlights. This multi tool does not disappoint. I love it. Great build quality. Light and perfect for edc. I use it daily at work and love it. The screw drivers are a nice add and have come in handy. I also like that you can order an olight but set to go with it. The extra little tool is nice as well with a flathead edge, can opener and also tightened the screw on the oknife blade holder. My only wish is that the extra tool somehow was able to make snap into the handle so that it was incorporated into the unit and not something extra to carry but I just hook it onto my work keys so it's always with me at work. Highly recommend.

Coming from the no pro version of this knife, I'd say its well worth the upgrade. The knife itself is very solid for a very small folding utility knife. On the previous version and this one, I have never had any issues with the blade coming out when I didn't want it to. The opening action is very smooth, just as smooth as sever hundred dollar benchmade knives that I own with the same locking action. Blade changes are very easy with the included tool or I tend to use a small pair of pliers (that's what I usually have on me). And the screwdriver, It comes in handy more than you'd think. Its not big enough to drive any crazy screws, but remotes, controllers, kids toys it works perfect for. To fit the screwdriver in the handle, Oknife lengthened the grip. This does take up more room in your pocket from the previous version, but I think that little bit extra makes it way more comfortable in the hand. Now for a few cons. The screwdriver bit is just retained with a magnet. Sometimes it can fall out and be a slight annoyance. The blade locking screw can strip if over tightened. On a previous model, I had over tightened the locking screw and rendered the knife useless. Looking at them both, the Pro version seems to use the exact same locking screw. I imagine this issue could extend to this model. Overall, great little knife.

Phenomenal workhorse ! If, for some reason you need to replace the blade, it is a super simple operation ! The handle fits well in the hand, non-slippery micarta surface makes sure you don't lose your grip when it matters ! Ive only had to replace the blade because of constant use, it's my go-to for everything !

Outstanding knife and exactly what I was looking for. Great build quality, replaceable blade and having the screwdriver without added bulk is the best. Just buy this one.

The original U1 was already well-regarded. In a KnifeCenter video comparison of 14 EDC utility knives, it tied for first. It was one-point shy of a perfect score because it had no extra tools. Well the U1 Pro addresses that by adding a locking 4mm bit driver. Which makes the U1 Pro the best compact EDC utility knife on the market. Yes, the Milwaukee Fastback has even more features. But it is nearly twice as heavy, and an inch longer. The pocket clip on the U1 Pro is deeper carry too. To me, the U1 Pro is perfect. It is very comfortable in the hand. Some observations: 1. The action is great on the knife. On the screwdriver, I was able the thumb flick it once, but usually just a controlled open. Note: I had to oil the knife to get the action to work correctly on the screwdriver. Now it flips open and closed with the button. 2. I was actually able to extend the blade by using the second top slot. There was no blade play, and the knife closed properly. I am not sure when having 98% of the blade would make a difference vs 85% of the blade, but it's possible. 3. The bit is labeled PH0/SL3.5. I have this same bit from another Olight product, and the Phillips on the U1 Pro looks a touch bigger. Maybe closer to PH1. YMMV. 4. My Hoto double-sided bits are the same size, and also magnetically retain in the U1 Pro. 5. The Victorinox Cybertool bits are a little shorter, which allows the ball detent to engage and so they work too. I find the Victorinox bits to be a little larger than the Olight/Hoto bits. The main Vic bit is PH2/SL4, and it goes up to Torx 15 (vs T8 for Olight) and Hex 4 (vs Hex 2.5 for Olight). 6. I could not shake the blade open, and I could not shake the screwdriver open. Once deployed, the blade lock up is excellent - zero blade play. 7. I'll probably carry an Olight Opry as a complement to the U1 Pro in order to have access to a couple more double-sided bits. Some of the Opry models store 2 or 3 double-sided 4mm bits.

In the world of folding replaceable utility blades, I think that a king has been crowned. Look, I belong to the subculture of American blue collars that carry knives (plural) to work and a separate combination of knives elsewhere. You’ve got your prideful edc (usually riding clipped inside of dominant-side front pocket), you’ve got your multitool (in my case riding in a scout’s carry leather belt sheath on my dominant side hip, and you’ve got your utility knife (usually riding clipped inside of your dominant side rear pocket). I remember when folding utility knives started to show up on jobsites a few years ago; they were hard to miss because the only option was the giant gen-1 Milwaukee Fastback constructed of aluminum with the wire pocket clip. Button release, liner lock, simple enough mechanism ton swap out blades, it completely changed the game for just about every single hand-tool oriented trade. Didn’t take long for other brands to want in on the action, and I ate up each offering as it was placed on the shelves of the big box stores, every major tool brand had their version. Dewalt, Makita, Huskey, Kobalt, even Fiskars put forth a challenger. Each had done something right, but none enough so to dethrone the original especially since at this point the newest generation of Milwaukee Fastback had a reversible flathead-Philips screwdriver integrated into the handle. Now we fast forward a few years, and it doesn’t take much imagination to conclude that the same blue collar tool users and the hardcore knife-nuts of the world often overlap and are one in the same. Well some point, these legendary affordable knife manufacturers (Oknife, Civivi, Kizer, etc) catch wind that their customers are carrying one of their knives in one pocket and and a utility knife made by a tool company in another pocket, and I don’t think they liked that. Because apparently they went to their customers and asked them what they wanted in a utility knife, and then they went to work. I went with Oknife’s offering because I’ve been such a huge fan of this company for years, ever since they supported my police academy class by giving us an unbelievable discount on pistol lights upon graduation (pistol lights that cost us less than 1/3 of the competitors and outperformed them so brutally in every category our major Texas agency adopted the Olight officially going forward). It was the first knife from Oknife that I’d handled, and it was just as exceptional as their lights. The action for flipping the blade with thumb or backside finger is the same as the high end knives of today. The blade swap system, while requiring a tool, is the most secure on the market with zero blade wiggle and perfect alignment. The amount of cutting edge that’s exposed is another element that was so well thought out. The micarta scales are as grippy as you could want them to be. The crossbar lock isn solid and responsive. It’s just perfect. If I had to have one gripe, it’s that it’s a tad small. But you’ll get over it quickly. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful cutter. Flawless construction. It'll never go blunt when you can just change the blade. It's a keeper.
