Airthereal B50-PRO Mini Ozone Generator with Negative Ion - Plug-in Odor Eliminator Disinfecting Machine with Timer and Cycled Mode

I bought this because my furnace had a musty smell after a basement flood a couple months ago. Ozone should kill any mold in the vents. I purchased this one in particular because the ion feature should also improve the efficiency of my HVAC filters. I placed it near the cold air return closest to the furnace plenum and turned it on. Pros: - Adequately clears the air in my entire 2200sf home when placed next to the furnace intake - While running in this configuration, ozone concentrations throughout the home stay below unsafe levels - Absolutely delightful texture on the plastic housing, someone nailed the aesthetic design of this thing Cons: - The ozone production rate is not adjustable like it is on other models from this manufacturer - There is no long-term continuous operation mode (which is probably done on purpose for safety, but for deep cleaning it'd be nice to have) I'm not gonna dock a star just because this thing lacks a particular optional feature. It does what it says on the box and it does it better than it says on the box. To fully clear out my vents of any possible mold, I'd have to run this thing in its 5 minute cycle mode for a week, which could risk an unsafe buildup of O3 in my home. I'll have to plan that around some vacation time or something. A fully continuous operating mode could do it in a single day while I'm out running errands. Long term, I think I'll buy a second one just for the garage. And possibly another one to tear apart for a DIY project to connect it to the furnace so it turns on with the blower, though an adjustable O3 output might be better suited for that, just to keep ozone levels safe.

The unit was larger than I anticipated, but that wasn’t an issue. It operates with a sound level comparable to a refrigerator running, maybe a bit louder. Right after turning it on, I noticed the distinct smell of ozone, which reassured me that it was functioning as intended. For its compact size, it seems very effective and performs well. I would definitely recommend this unit to others. The nightlight feature is a great touch and adds extra convenience!"

Edit: after my initial review, the seller contacted me to investigate the fan issue I was experiencing. I have a replacement unit now and hopefully this won't fail. Only time can tell. This unit was really good and it delivered. However, after a few months, the fan stopped working, and now the unit doesn't stay on anymore.

However, my experience took a downturn after a few months of use. Two units unexpectedly stopped working, and after unplugging, I heard some unsettling sounds indicating internal looseness. Deciding to investigate, I disassembled one device and discovered some rusted and out-of-place resistors. This structural issue significantly impacted its overall durability. While the Airthereal B50-PRO initially delivered on its promises, the subsequent malfunction and internal degradation raise concerns about its long-term reliability and build quality. Potential buyers should consider these drawbacks when evaluating their purchase.

I bought this to remove the old weird smell in the laundry room and one of the guest rooms in my home. My best guess is that they had a dog that was poorly houstrained or some other pet that urinated on the floors. I had thought that after shampooing the carpet, and a few years of living in the space and running a UV and Hepa filter based air purifier, or an ionic Honeywell tower filter in those rooms the odd smell would go away. It didn't, so I wanted to try using Ozone to clear out the smell this time. I did not want to buy a massive and expensive Ozone generator that would force me to evacuate the entire home for the duration of its use. Using this product I've found that it doesn't just cover up the smell it oxidises the source of the smell as well as the smell itself. Which is very good. Pros of this product: Looks and even feels nice and solid in the hand. it does put out a lot of ozone if you need it to. it also has a maintain a low level of Ozone feature which is very useful. Cons: I really only have one complaint, the fan, oh my the awful fan. I've heard some loud fans before but THIS one is something else. Keep in mind, my home is a multi level split with four separate levels splitting the home into two halves. I put this Ozone generator into my top most floor and I can hear the poor fan rattling all the way in the lowest part of the basement. If there's any bearings in the poor thing I think they've long since given up completely. and it isn't just some little axial fan, it's a centrifugal blower fan. Certainly this unit is bad and not ALL of them are this loud right? I've since found that placing the ozone generator on an extension cord or a powerstrip helps the noise issue from permeating throughout the entire home. Probably because it is no longer rattling the wall, but harmlessly rattling the long cord. Even with the gravel grinding fan, I would buy it again if I had to. But I would certainly check out other ones before buying this one again.

I really liked this device and had high hopes for it. It was great for about a month, but then started making a noise and soon quit working. I liked the way you can have the ozone generated for either 1/2 hour or continuously. It ran quietly and made a soft “white noise” kind of sound. UPDATE: in follow up to my review I was contacted because of the problem and a new device is on the way. Great customer service! I had not planned on asking for a replacement or a refund, but the replacement was freely offered. What a pleasant surprise! I do like the device and look forward to using it again soon. This is an update: after several months this device continues to run very quietly and appears to do everything that it is supposed to do. The button used to initiate the production of ozone causes an almost imperceptible change in sound and the ozone smell begins. I understand this is helpful in stopping odors. I am very pleased with my purchase! I recommend not only this device but also the seller who stands behind the product.

It didn't last a month. The little internal fan sounds like a jet engine taking off. We loved that it actually works and produces ozone, we can certainly smell it in the area when it is operating. We have it close to the AC intake, so it helps to distribute throughout the house. But now is already so loud, we have to leave it unplugged.

--7/2 update-- Upgrading my review from 2 stars to 5 stars as a result of good customer service by the seller. I contacted to seller to let them know of my issue and they have resolved it to my satisfaction. Overall, a very seamless experience. I also recognize that I may have just received a lemon, and knowing that the seller stands behind their product is reassuring. I would happily do business from the same seller again should the opportunity present. --Original review-- After less than 1 week of use, the night light feature no longer works. It's unclear whether it's a burned LED or snagged wiring, though nonetheless disappointing given how quickly it failed. I suspect that I received a bad unit as this does not appear to be a pattern with other reviewers. Otherwise, the ozone generator seems to work as expected. Giving it two stars for now since the ozone generator works, and we'll see how long it lasts given the night light failure.
