"As Advertised" and be aware NOT all blacklight products glow the same
So, my wife and I have been experimenting artistically with blacklight body paint designs. There are MANY products here on Amazon, some of which are better than others. Since we've purchased Blue Squid three times now, we thought it time to write a review.Blue Squid Products TRULY glow under blacklight. The weakest color is BLUE, but it will glows better than other products. Blue is the weakest of all blacklight products we speculate because of where it occurs on the color spectrum. You'll see it's similar to pure white, but not as intense. The product applies easily, but you MUST be patient. Body painting takes a great deal of time, if you aspire for coolness and don't have an airbrush to help. (Blue Squid, can your product be put through an airbrush? Please advise). The paints washes off easily, but a PURE white piece of clothing will retain just a bit of a reminder of the paint, if it gets on it. (we tested this with brand new pure white cotton 95%/ elastane 2% boxer briefs). Few folks would notice this residual, in other words, it doesn't ruin the white. So, what about the other guys? I'll include them here, under Blue Squid (please forgive me Blue Squid, but it's hard to find a comprehensive review of everything), to save you some time. Splashes and Spills makes wonderful Mascara, Eyeliner and nail polish. Their product glows wonderfully, though the eyeliner/mascara combo seems to "goo up" a bit too quickly as if its drying out too soon/old merchandise. Figure that one can last about 6 months max? Splashes and Spills Nail Polishes glow great, but don't think they'll stay on like a solid Revlon you can buy at a local drugstore. The nail polish is only for fun, know that it will chip away soon. You might do well with a solid base of a white nail polish (some whites you'll find at the drugstore DO blacklight glow unintentionally, use your little light provided in this package), then cover with the blacklight/UV polish.Blue Squid Customer support is fantastic and responsive. I inquired about getting larger tubes (which they do not make) or a set of ONE color, which they do not make. We found that we liked a couple colors more, and wanted to buy larger tubes than 0.5 fl. oz. We'd suggest to Blue Squid they offer the tubes in a 2 fl oz size individually if possible. You'll need some stiffer/shorter paint brushes to stay in control if you aren't a painter by hobby or profession. Our favorite color is Orange.Important note! Don't be deceived by the Purple Tube of Paint! It's NOT purple. It's a wonderful intense Pink!! Awesome. What about Moon Glow Paint Sticks? Product design is outstanding. They are so easy to use, since you don't need a paintbrush or fingertip. However, their colors BARELY GLOW. The point of UV is to have the color jump out of the darkness, and Moon Glow, perhaps aptly named, has a more ghostly, faint glow, that's not very dramatic. We like to use Moon Glow to draw our pattern and then paint over it it Blue Squid.Moving on, we've tried DecorRom glowing UV dye (*it also has Glow in the Dark alone properties) as we were considering how to do hair. This is a craft powder and can be blended into something like a Nyx Glitter Primer for the lips, but be advised this is more of a craft powder, not a makeup, so you don't want to get it in your mouth (too much) - not really for kids if you're wondering (*We like Blue Squid for Lips, though it's not practical except for photos). If Blue Squid and S&S glow at a 10.0, then DecorRom glows at about a 6.0, and Moon Glow at about a 3.0. Yet... you'll find some value in the stronger tones of this powder if you try the following: 1. cover all of the body except hair, 2. spray some light setting hair spray into your hair 3. lean over a tub or shower, or someplace outside, and have a trusty friend blow the dust onto your hair repeatedly. You'll find your hair will now "sparkle" in UV. It's a cool effect, as is spraying the body with hair spray (or similar light makeup spray adhesive) and having a friend blow a color all over your body. What this does is makes your entire body sparkle, and if you'd already painted down Blue Squid paint, it's a real site to behold (if you've been patient!).Now you're thinking... which blacklight? We've found that the 3 LED blacklight bulbs provide barely enough light in a small room of about 3 meters by 3 meters (10 feet by 10 feet). The three bulbs produce 27 watts of light. Yes, you can test and evaluate glow, but, in a party atmosphere, you'll likely have a large room. You'll want a lot more wattage to get what you desire. We've tried two, 9 LED 27 WATT light strips by OPPSK which produce about a solid amount of light for a 3.7meter x 3.7 meter (12x12 foot) room, but if we could, we'd add TWO more, having one at each corner of the room mounted on the wall about 6 feet off the ground, or higher pointing down. Black lights DO cast shadows, so be aware of that. If you place them on the floor, any photos (if desired) will produce a creepy, flashlight under your face, lighting style. Try out the remote control on strobe or have it beat to your music, it's a clever design by OPPSK. We tried the Gohyo and it has the same light as the OPPSK, but no remote. We have yet to try the Onforu lighting strips, but find them intriguing... if we go there, we'll report back! Finally, we've been consider this, and could find NO relevant information with a Google Search. Our photos typically show up as blue/purple colored, not black. After some thought, we believe we've figured out why. The walls in our house are pure white (they do not UV glow). As such, it's our suspicion they reflect back the blacklight with bluish/purple. We believe the solution is to ensure all walls are black OR you are completely outside in darkness. IF you can produce about 108 watts (four 27 WATT strips) of surrounding light (placing light sources in a way you cannot see them in the photos), we suspect we can attain a PERFECTLY black background and grey/desaturated skin with a brilliant glow of UV colors (like the pros). We did learn, and you can find videos on this, Blacklight is LOW LIGHT conditions for photography. As such, you'll need a sensitive camera AND we believe a tripod to be critical, as if you're shooting night shots (depends on how serious you're pursuing this art.) Videos (Google Pixel 3a) will be grainy and stylized..but very cool!We have not posted images here, as we are still in the "blue sky" creative phase of seeing how all of these products work and also value our privacy. It's fun stuff to experiment and we note that when a person is dancing and moving in blacklight, the patterns we've painted create a wonderfully rather hypnotizing effect. Terrific. We thank Blue Squid for a great product (no, they did NOT pay us anything). We hope you can produce larger individual tubes.Yours in UV wonder,

Great!
I used these paints for Halloween, dressed for Day of the Dead. I wanted very bright and colorful makeup. The colors went on easily and were very bright. Washed up easily. Highly recommend. 👍🏻

Not the largest bunch of paints but they did stand out well.

Great quality and value.
My daughter and her friends have way too much fun with this. For the most part, it’s been easy to clean up after they make a huge mess. Never really tried it in the dark to see if it glowed very well.

Neon paints
Paints are small tubes but good amounts of paint if your not doing anything to major with them pretty colors and they all work under a black light however I didn’t like the fishy smell that they seem to have also the protective foil on top of the opening of the tube on a couple I had wasn’t sealed all the way and paint was spilling out of it

Great face paint
Painted my face for Halloween. No skin reaction. Went on well. Darker colors don't glow as well as lighter colors. Used a small uv flashlight to show my face at night. Washed off easily.
