Arrived well protected and healthy
My new lime was shipped within a day of placing the order and arrived in the Charlotte, NC area two days later. The plant was very well packaged with tape over the pot so there was no soil mess to clean up. The soil was moist so there was one less thing to stress the plant during transport. I repotted this morning before heading out of town for the holiday. It’s under a large potted fig for shade until I see new growth. I didn’t see any pests, but placed the plant outside asap just in case. I read the lowest rated reviews before placing my order. I’ll add a few tips... Citrus don’t do well with a lot of soil above their roots and/or on the trunk. If your plant isn’t growing under optimal growing conditions, but not losing leaves either, carefully remove soil until you start seeing roots. Most citrus aren’t cold hardy so it’s not wise to have citrus grown in Ohio shipped on an unheated trailer in the middle of winter. If there are no shipping options to keep the poor plant warm and you can’t pick it up in person, wait til spring to place your order... Don’t rush to put your plant in direct sunlight. Ease into it. Start in shade or partial shade and work up to full sun. Plants don’t like hot roots. If using a pot, do what you can to provide shade to the pot/roots/trunk. You can group plants together so they shade each other or prune in a way that provides shade to roots and trunks. People like the tree appearance, but citrus grow better if you let them grow in their natural bush form. Indoor potted plants still need decent light to survive. If a sunny room isn’t available, get supplemental lighting. Spider mites were a problem every winter for my previous key lime. Neem oil and wiping the plant with a wet cloth takes care of that. Last, but not least, make sure your soil is a mixture that won’t hold too much moisture during cooler months to prevent rot issues. I’m not totally sure what killed my last lime, but I suspect wet soil combined with too little light did it in :( June 21, 2019 update It’s been about a month and the new lime has lost maybe 1 leaf. We had a decent amount of rain a few days ago so some new growth popped up. Just gave all the plants some boogie brew yesterday. Posting some photos of the new lime...

So far, so good
Received the lime tree in a great time frame and in perfect condition. It's still alive two months later, though it hasn't grown much. Can't blame the seller - winter here has been brutal so there hasn't been much sun. Hoping come spring it grows more and we get fruit eventually!

The lime tree was healthy and blooming but...
Healthy plant with lots of blossoms arrived securely packaged in recyclable material. The one issue that I really can't complain about is that I ordered a Key Lime and received a Persian lime in a larger size pot than expected. So I got a larger, more expensive lime plant for the price of a smaller specimen. I'm pleased with health and vigor of the plant. Though it dropped most of the original blossoms in a rain storm, it is now covered with fragrant flowers again. I'd order from Hirt's again..

What a waste of money!
I have decades of experience growing citrus. I have a 4 1/2 foot tall Calamondin orange tree growing in a pot, that yields, literally, hundreds of oranges a year. I have a hearty Meyer lemon tree, also growing in a pot, that , last year, yielded 23 lemons the size of baseballs. So, had this tree had been a healthy one when I received it, I have no doubt that it would've done the same. What it did was nothing. I followed the directions that came with the tree, potting it accordingly, watered it as I should have, and had it on the patio where it got the same amount of sun as did the orange and lemon trees. It did not grow an inch! All summer long, it just sat there, slowly dropping the few leaves it had on it when received, ending up with nothing more than a twig. Run from this one folks.

Plant arrived dead...
I am disappointed. I have Prime but the tree arrived looking like a dried flower arrangement. The leaves were dead and brittle and it’s very likely it won’t make it. I can tell it was originally a beautiful plant and I thought with prime it was possible to order a live tree, but it really was too good to be true. It arrived in bad shape. The company however was very easy to work with and issued a return with a picture proving that the tree had died. I bought the tree as a gift and needed it quickly, but if you're willing to go out on a limb and take a risk, buy it.. The company issued a refund when it arrived in the condition that it did.

Sad, dead tree
This tree arrived in good condition, and was shipped quickly. Unfortunately it is already almost dead. I did everything you are supposed to. I researched like crazy trying to figure out how to save this poor tree. I fertilized, moved it to a bigger pot, even bought a plant light bulb so it got more sunlight. All to no avail. Leaves continued to drop like crazy and now it has a total of two leaves left. Very dissapointed. So buyer beware. I read a few reviews that said the same thing but assumed maybe they didn’t care for it properly, now I don’t think that’s the case.

A strong plant that looked like a stick a first
I was really worried when I received this lime tree. It looked like a stick with 4 leaves on it. I put it in a pot next to a lemon tree I got from a local greenhouse. I watered and fertilized the lime and lemon trees often and after a year, the lemon tree is dead. It was big and full of leaves, had a baby lemon on it, but now it is dead. This lime tree is the opposite story. It has grown about a foot and it full of blossoms and tiny growing limes. It is doing very well. I'm looking forward to some limes in a couple of months. It looked awful when I received it, but it has been doing very well.
