Nice but should be better.
The quality of all items in this kit is high and it looks like it will last. However as the functionality of the system is also high, setting up the software is complex, and an ‘average’ user may struggle. Connecting the recorder and the cameras is straightforward, and as the cameras have cables it makes it pretty much plug and play. It is when you get into the settings that the software begins to fall short. The App was simple enough to install (iPhone and iPad tested) but as the software for a PC is provided on a disk and we have no CD drive we tried to download it from the Homeguard website. That website currently has across its top – ‘Our upgrade website will be grandly coming soon’. The only link on that page that worked was to a support email. We found the pc software on third-party download sites, but we didn’t risk using them. After much trial and error, we were happy with the settings. We have both cameras recording all the time (no brainer with such a large hard drive) and have one of the cameras (the one pointing at her new motorbike) initiating messages to our devices using the smart thermal detector. Within an hour we had our first bite, a message appeared on the iPad, so I ran outside and found a young lady cowering by the bike. Very strange, not a thief but the system worked. The iPhone App functions but is far from perfect. Viewing live video and receiving alarm messages is fine but when viewing recorded material there is a long delay between sliding the time bar and the image updating. I have also not yet been able to get much sense from the play and fast forward controls. In conclusion – The hardware is great, and the picture quality is more than acceptable but the software (both on the recorder and the Apps) needs a complete re-write. The big red flag for me is the dormant website that would put me off purchasing from them.

Good product
This works good and easy to use, really cheap price is because no hard drive being fitted, so be aware to view playback it will cost more.Fitting a hard drive is very simpleIn all a good deal

First one disappeared in post, second one did not work
Although the customer service was great, the first one I bought disappeared in the post and the second one did not work, the picture was fuzzier than the old one which was not HD. It cost me £16 to return it which I didn't get b ack. The supposed HD cameras which came with it showed a poorer quality of picture than the original ones with the original box which were not HD.

good
For your average home user this is quite good. The cameras are 1080p, not 720p. if you get 720p you won't get very clear pictures of number plates, so be aware. The night vision works well. The app for remote viewing works well for me.Yes these are wired cameras, however i prefer wired cameras as the issue with wireless for me, is that signals tends to drop, just like my router hub!You are also given ample cable wires to hook up the cameras.Overall its a nice price and a good set of features for this price.

Fine for our use
This is a pretty straight forward small kit that works well for our home use. It's easy to set up and if you need more than the cameras delivered with the kit, it is possible to connect them to the extra channels. The quality is decent, but also depends on the setup and light sources and other things that could either help or get in the way of the recordings. There is advise on this available online and it's worth both taking a good read through the instructions for the machine as well as online advise to get the most out of the kit. The size of the memory storage is big enough that you can go away on holidays without having to worry about it running out.We like it and it compares well with a similar kit we bought about a year ago at about the same price and which has worked well for us.

Not enough cameras
Four stars because for the price I think it could come with more cameras.Functionality-wise it works as expected and records footage on the supplied unit. It holds a decent amount of video which can also be viewed over the internet.I'm impressed with the quality of the recording, night-time too. We've got one camera in the porch and the other in the hallway. Its a shame more cameras are not supplied because two are generally not going to be enough for anyone. You can buy additional ones separately.Usage wise, I'm happy with the quality but would recommend that you research if you can get a similar quality unit with more cameras for a similar price. If you're going to the hassle of wiring things in, you may as well get all the coverage you want.
