Vallotton Spyderco doesn’t mess around!
Certainly glad to have found out about this premium knife-nice its available also. The relatively short while I’ve been collecting it’s nice to find a knife that truely does stand out in every way. Upon getting a new knife you have to try the slicing/cutting ability of the steel. This blade is second to none. Not only an excellent grade but also the geometry of the grind. Most all new steel comes sharp from the factory but you can tell when there is zero effort you have to put forth to do any cutting chores. Absolutely amazing is the slicing ability of the Vallotton.Quality and detail explains the fit and finish. It is a little heavier than an average EDC. That is if you wanted to carry this knife in a pocket. I enjoy having it close by to open and close and see the fit and how a custom knife should operate. It seems as though everything is “overly built”, whether it’s the bolsters, liners or that nice hunk of S30V steel.Spyderco and Mr.Vallotton have created a masterpiece which I feel fortunate to have came across and get to enjoy for many years to come and many years after that in my sons care.

Perfect Folding Knife
Ok, you know how many reviews start, some people complaining about weight, size and the list goes on. That is a matter of personal taste so let's skip that part because size, or weight does not have anything to do with the quality and build of the knife. The Vallotton is designed by master knife maker Butch Vallotton who is a renowned designer since 1984. This knife has classic Spyderco features such as the classic round hole to open the knife but in addition it also features a thumb stud which doubles as a stop pin. This means extra safety! This knife features a blade built of premium S30V steel and a blade thickness of 4mm (.156") so it is a generous, thick and very strong blade.Heavy? well not for me I like my knives strong. weight is 176 g. Trust me, you will not get herniated disk for carrying it in your pocket so relax.Handles are made of extra polished G10 that look like carbon fiber only a lot more elegant matching the polished stainless steel bolsters. This is an exquisite design, a strong knife, elegant, extremely sharp and has the smoothest action of all my knives.Yes, this is my favorite folding knife in my collection (I have other hand end knives such as Benchmade, Mcusta etc.). It's execution is flawless. So, apart from personal preferences in materials, size weight etc. This knife is built like a tank and every part is perfect. (Hence the price)Wait is not made in the USA? No is not, and it does not matter at all. It is made in Taiwan. Just remember that in Asia they were working steel already when we were still throwing stones in America so forget about origin prejudices.Would I buy it again? Yes in a heartbeat.Would I recommend it to a friend? Not at all, I want to be the only one with the WOW factor among my friends when I take out my Vallotton!

When you want a folder that feels like a fixed blade
You might be worried about the weight if you wear your pants half way off your butt with no belt, it may just pull your pants all the way down. I think it's a great solid knife. Can go through many layers of soda cans and cardboard. If you are worried about hard use and keeping your knife pristine, just take a picture of it and carry that in your pocket but be careful, that can give you real painful paper cuts. A bit pricey but I love the thickness and love the heft of it. The only disappointment with my purchase was the price because I looked it up again the day after and it was listed on Amazon for $50 less than what I purchased it for. Oh well, no regerts. At least this design of a Spyderco knife does not give traumatic flashbacks of Spy Vs Spy.

Simply a awesome knife. Very well worth the money... I'd pay more! Which is rare!!!
Sexiest Spyderco Ever!I own a few good spydercos. Delica 4, Harpy, Para 2, and a few others. The Vallotton is simply a amazing knife. I'm not a huge man, 5' 9" and doing a. EDC on this I don't mind what so ever. I don't get all the fuss about its size. However I choose to EDC the Para 2, or Delica. Not because I think the Vallotton can't be EDCed but I like to carry a thin slicer.I can't clearly explain why, but if you don't own a Vallotton your missing out. It's world class quality, period. It's like a over built older Mercedes when they made way over engineered cars. I don't just collect, I use. I don't care how pretty something is I don't buy it to look at it. This knife I'll use, but admire when using. It's like a product you buy just because you can. Don't sweat where it's made, there's not a United States made Spyderco that compares. The para 2 is a awesome US made knife don't get me wrong but in a different class all together.I think this knife is one of the rare products that's worth more then you pay. I'm cheap, I like lasting value. I don't mind paying for quality if it lasts. But this is one of the few things you can buy where you will think you would of paid more for it.
