I needed a replacement for my beloved gooseneck kettle that recently has been discontinued and only available on eBay for ~$200. Thought about it but nope. Finally settled on this one and am so glad I did! PROS: Simple sleek attractive design Enough temp settings to be workable Maintains temp after returning to base after pouring Heats fast Price CONS: Have to remember to turn it off (stays on after using and returning to base) Top doesn’t open all the way, must do manually when filling (not a big deal) Doesn’t remember last temp (my other kettle did) so must set it every time I read the negative reviews with a number of complaints that the digital display began being unreadable. That would make the kettle useless because I need the temp 205 for my coffee so … because I love the kettle and the price is so reasonable, I did the nutty thing of ordering a 2nd one which I have stashed in the attic. If both of them fail then I’ll move on but the investment is not so great that I’ll regret giving it a go. Should that happen I will definitely update this review. —————- MAY 3: Dang. This morning for the 3rd time, I set temp to 205 and return to it at 212. Ao disappointed because have been using it only 2 weeks! Called Amazon CS and they are sending out a new one and will be evaluating my defective one once they receive it. Did not want to break out my spare kettle after a mere 2 weeks! Also, was watching the kettle this afternoon to stop it when it reached 205 degrees but heard it boiling when it got there, quickly opened the lid and sure enough: boiling. Verified with my Thermapen that the display temp wasn’t accurate. Taking away a star. Will update. ———— MAY 9: The replacement kettle arrived. It did not hold temperature AND when taken off the base it turned off. My original 5-star review thought the intent was for it not to turn off except manually. This kettle is all over the place with no clue what it should be doing. I am returning both defective kettles AND the one I had bought as a back-up because I loved the kettle that much. Beyond disappointed but can definitely not recommend. ———— MAY 17: Seller reached out with refund offer but I explained Amazon had already done that. Then they offered to send one free of charge saying the defective ones had been part of the same production lot as if now another would be of different quality, The logical problem I have with that is: 1. Reviews indicate there were quality issues all year 2. If you now have quality kettles why did you keep shipping ones with problems of not turning off, not stopping at set temp, etc? I responded that I had purchased another kettle, had lost confidence in theirs, but failed to add (so I am telling them here): at this point it's also a safety issue. Too many reports of it not turning off. They were polite and tried what they could. My hope is that they figure out their issues and using the same design produce a reliable quality kettle. Focus on that. I'd pay 2x the price for that kettle but wouldn't take 2 of the current one for free. DO NOT BUY THIS KETTLE! It has serious quality issues. Zero stars.

Pros: 1.Good materials - i didn't want plastic touching the water. This delivered on that front. 2. Quick heating. - full pot reached max temp in 4 mins 3. Sleek looking. Cons: 1. NOT USER FRIENDLY. Why is the boil and off button the same? The manual doesnt clarify anything. I thought i was smart and could figure it out... I'm not. 2. DOSENT HEAT TO SET TEMP. I tried heating multiple times to lower temps but it only ever stops at 212. 3. The top is annoying cuz it doesn't open all the way making maintenance/cleaning difficult cuz you can't get in there to wipe it. I'm sure that would affect product longevity down the line. Summary: Would not recommend

This kettle is easy to use and heats quickly. The temperature is easy to set but we found it to be inaccurate. We filled the kettle with cold tap water and set the kettle to 145 and the water (tested with a food thermometer) came out at 165. We repeated the test at a lower temperature (130) and the water came out as 150 with the thermometer. We purchased this model to achieve a particular temperature and will adjust our settings by 20 degrees now that we know the water is hotter than the kettle indicates.

This was a great kettle with no water-plastic contact, I even recommended it to a friend. Till like many others, just my display gave up (not my friends). In addition, sometimes water drips from the holes in the bottom. I lived with the weird display for a few months. I tried looking for a seller contact to check the warranty but couldn't find one. Finally, I looked into the kettle internals by unscrewing the three screws at the bottom (don't do this if you don't know what you're doing!), turns out its just bad design! The display goes bad because there's a template sticker with the digit shapes stuck over the actual LED. With heat (this IS a kettle), the sticker adhesive softens and slides down and covers parts of the LED display, causing the broken display look. Straightened the sticker and re-assembled, and now the display's looking good as new now, just need to figure out the water dripping from the base holes.

Had bought an Amazon Basics kettle and had to return it due to problems so I purchased this in its place. I like being able to see the temp on the outside of the kettle. I wished that the lid would open all the way, but I can still get my hand in it to clean. I almost returned the kettle because I couldn't figure out how to get it to stop at the optional preset temperature settings. I would set it to the desired temp, let's say 175 degrees and hit the power boil off button and it would not stop at 175 degrees but go to 212 degrees. The temp instructions are vague on what to do when you select the desired temperature. It should be in bold print that YOU DO NOT HIT THE BOIL OFF BUTTON. Just select the preset temp and wait three seconds and it will then automatically start and then maintain that temp. I believe this is why most buyers have returned the kettle stating that the preset temp does not work. I was about to do that myself. Otherwise, it seems to be working fine after a week of use. If the lid opened more and better instructions, I would have given it 5 stars.
