Heavy duty poly hex tarp...another home run by TNH!
Like all of the TNH products I own (and literally I own all of them), this is another quality piece of gear at an affordable price! But also like every other TNH product launch, sometimes the listings can use a bit of work...First, let me provide some specs as there is no indication of the size or weight of this hex tarp in the item description. This tarp boasts a generous ridgeline coming in at 11' 6" (138"), so it should provide plenty of length for just about any hammock as well as small tents. Bottom coverage measures 6' 6" (78") across with a modest catenary cut, and side coverage provides 4' 4" (52") per side, which is more than adequate for moderate weather conditions. The material is a heavy duty poly, which has many benefits over nylon but admittedly not geared toward the weight-conscious individual. This tarp is a bit heavy when compared to the other tarps in my arsenal, but in all fairness it is also a fraction of the cost and still manageable. The rain fly and stuff sack weigh in at 545 grams (19.23 oz) while the guy lines and stakes weigh 105 grams (3.71 oz), for a grand total of 650 grams (23 oz) or 1.44 lbs for the kit.I am unsure why initial photos of all new TNH products incorrectly represent the shade of color, but rest assured that this rain fly is indeed the "TNH green" that you have grown accustomed to. It is darker and more natural than in the listing photos, and pairs up nicely with the TNH hammock or tent, etc. See my photo attached for a more accurate depiction of the true color of the material. Also as a side note, while I am pointing out the inaccuracies with the listing, please pay no attention to the orientation of the hex tarp in the photo above. It is incorrectly pitched so that the ridgeline is running diagonally across the fly, but I can assure you that when used properly there is not a seam down the side of the tarp. As a final word of mention, the listing description indicated that this rain fly comes with six (6) stakes, however I only received a total of four. I did however receive 6 guy lines, so it seems they are truly missing as opposed to there being a typo in the description, and I sent an email to TNH to give them the heads up. I believe this is an issue with the first batch of these tarps, as my buddy was also short two stakes, but thankfully we both have extras that we have previously purchased from our friends at TNH. Needless to say, they are always very responsive and I have full confidence they will correct it ASAP. Just to be clear, you do only need 4 stakes to properly secure this tarp once it is attached to your ridgeline, but having a couple spares in your pack is always a good idea. Now that I'm done telling you about the minor hiccups (which are only mentioned here in the interest of full disclosure), let me explain why I am still giving this rain fly a rating of 5 stars... When I had this delivered today, I immediately set it up out in the back yard to check it out. The first thing I noticed is how durable the material feels. The vast majority of my tarps are a lightweight silpoly or silnylon and are made with weight and space saving in mind. This tarp from TNH is made from a heavier material, and for most applications, I feel the excess weight is worth the performance and durability this tarp should provide. The PU coated 210T poly material should hold up to a lot of abuse from the elements, while providing enhanced stretch resistance over its nylon counterparts. I've also found the poly tarps to stand up against UV degradation better than similar weight nylon. The craftsmanship of the tarp is top notch, with flawless stitching and strong reinforced corners. I was unable to test its ability to shed water as I was running out of daylight, but I don't suspect any issues there and will update the review when I am able to give it a good soak. The reflective nylon guy lines that TNH includes with this rain fly are made from the same material that they sell separately. I love this line as it is strong, lightweight, thin, and is both reflective AND glows in the dark. They include 6 generous lengths of this line, all with pre-attached line tensioners so all you need to do is secure each one to a tie-out and hook to a stake. Simple. The stakes that are included with this tarp are made of aluminum and are very lightweight. They are the tri-beam style of stakes with a notch accompanying each beam. Each stake also comes with a small length of reflective cord tied to it so that they can be easily pulled from the ground. As you can see, TNH Outdoors did a wonderful job offering a complete rain fly kit that is affordable, but doesn't sacrifice quality when keeping the cost down. The only minor recommendations I would make to improve this kit is to include their single notch tri-beam aluminum stakes which I find to be much more durable than the three-notch style they are shipping with it. I also prefer my tarps to have side panel pull-outs which this is missing. But at 1/6 the cost of the last tarp I bought (tarp only - no hardware included) this product is a steal! I'm excited to put this tarp to the test this year, and I'm confident I will be using it for many years to come! I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend this rain fly to anyone looking for quality gear on a budget. Once again, for the money TNH simply CANNOT BE BEAT!

Good cost vs quality, a bit heavy.
Definitely worth it for the price. Seems decently made. It's a bit heavy for it's size but not too shabby. The stakes they give you are pretty decent as well but they only give you four and there are 6 tie off points My only gripes are it needs more tie off points and preferably yellow. Now I just need to find a relatively inexpensive sil tarp for solo nights.

Good stitching and reinforced corners as well
Good stitching and reinforced corners as well. More than adequate size for covering my hammock. Reflective cord includes tensioners and makes tying down a breeze. The included stakes have a loop of cord on each that you can use for easy extraction. The included stuff sacks make storage simple and manageable. My only change so far would be to include TNH's newly designed single-notch stakes; instead, the stakes I received have a notch on each side weakening their overall strength.Another good quality product by TNH for a reasonable price.

what a great quality tarp
I just purchased this fly tarp today and had a chance to take it outside to try it out in my back yard, not on an actual camping trip yet. We were looking for a tarp to put over my son's hammock for when we go camping. In the past ,we just either went without or tied up a blue utility tarp up for when it was raining. All I can say is, WOW, what a great quality tarp. This is not a light weight tarp that is going to rip and tear easily. it is also not as heavy duty as my utility tarp, but that is what I am trying to get away from. I needed something that is light weight, compact, and yet durable. time will tell about the durability part, but this tarp seems to be built well and be able to hold up for our needs.Probably the best part of this tarp is that everything that you need to pitch it is included. You get the stakes and the guy lines included, which are reflective. So, needless to say, we will be replacing our old utility tarp and will be definitely be using this tarp on our future camping trips. Now TNH just needs to come out with a bug (mosquito) net for their hammocks to complete the entire outdoor hammock experience. :)

Solid rainfly for hammock camping
Ive had a chance to set this up in the park, but havent taken it out overnight yet. I will update this review if my initial impressions are changed. Very sturdy construction, all the stitches and seems seem reinforced and strong. Mostly easy to set-up for the first time, but it will be a breeze in the future. (which coincidentally, a breeze is the most difficult part of the setup process :) )The only cons are pretty minor, the guy wires it comes with are reflective and easy to see, but im concerned they will dig into the treebark for the end pair. as they are pretty thin. And the included stakes are 7075 lightweight aluminum, but they are not the mono latch stakes ive grown accustomed to from TNX. Though they were not advertised as the mono latch stakes, which is good. They are the regular tri-notch stakes. this is only a problem for me if they start breaking, which i dont expect they will.Otherwise, this is a very solid tarp, especially for the price. It folds up in the included bag to be roughly the same dimensions as the tarp in its bag. (a bit taller and wider, but flatter. Its the same shade of green as their newly released tent. Cant say im the biggest fan, but that does not detract from product quality in any way shape or form.

Great Rain fly
I have owned this fly for approx 1 year. I camp monthly with scouts. This fly was purchased to replace my ENO rainfly. I have enjoyed this rain fly on my hammock. This fly has been through storms and high winds and still protected my hammock and gear. I love to use it with my trekking poles and put it up in a porch mode. Since purchasing this fly, 4 of my scouts and leaders have all gotten the same one. We look like a sea of green flys in the woods when we camp. The length of the fly is suitable for hammocks of different sizes as well as a nice shade in my backyard and I have even taken it to the beach to give us some shade. I will be looking to purchase a second one for my son, as his fly is now too small for a new hammock.
