Great Product
Worth every penny. It’s more expensive than the rice cookers we have purchased in the past. Most of these made a mess on the cabinet as steam and water oozed out the vent. Very easy to use and cleanup is a breeze

Good value for price point.
It's a basic model, no bells and whistles, but it's solidly made, easy to clean and I think the design looks attractive. It's 50 dollars as of the time of this review, but for a 5.5 cup machine with these amenities I think it's worth the price. 5.5 cups is more than enough for my needs, so i like the size. My last rice cooker was a B*k and De*ker , 2 cup and got the job done, but this one feels more solid while being just as easy to use (i had to replace the old one because I dropped the inner container and it bent to the point the lid didn't fit quite right). Push button instead of switch, however. I under stand that there are fancier models that take the guess work right out of rice prep, but I needed value, not sticky rice, and this gets that for me.

simple and perfect
My 6-year-old old rice cooker was clearly dying, but when I started searching for a replacement, I was stunned to find that some of them are over $200!! For a rice cooker??? The high-end pricey ones include too many buttons and "fuzzy logic." They almost look and function like a multi-function instant pot. Unless it can make fancy cocktails, too, then NO! I just wanted something that would let me add rice, water, salt, then press a button and have it tell me when the rice is perfectly done. This does that, extremely well and for an entirely reasonable price. Toshiba is a highly rated brand, so I trust that this will work well for many years.

Makes perfect rice, capacity is provided cup, not a standard cup.
Had to deduct 1 star because Toshiba has now started doing what all the other rice cooker manufacturers are doing, over stating the capacity by providing their own "cup". It does not hold 5.5 8 oz. cups of uncooked rice, it holds 5.5 of their cup, which is just under 2/3 of a standard cup. So it actually hold about 3.6 cups uncooked. Other than that it works very well, and my jasmine rice came out perfect. Just dont leave it on warm cycle for too long, or rice will dry out and can scorch on bottom. It only takes about 20 minutes to cook, and it is best to just unplug when it is done.

Great rice cooker!
Got this for my wife to replace an old unit that gave up. Works Fantastic! The best thing she liked was that it does not make a mess on the counter.

Poor Design
Not in love with it. Seems to cook rice as well as every other rice cooker I have ever owned. But Toshiba seems to miss some simple features. The markings for water level area is very difficult to see in normal lighting... versus others that use a contracting print. I literally have to use my phone light to see. Similarly, the indicator lights for Cook and Warm are barely visible (faint) in a normally lighted environment... really, how expensive is it to manufacture with a decent led component. They saved a penny. Also, it is impossible to turn off without removing plug from power outlet. Again, how much did Toshiba save here. Not what I expect from a quality Japanese company. Lastly... you actually have to dump out a waste water catchment device. Really?... I don't think I have ever seen such. All said, I will keep it as it was at the low end of price for a name brand and don't want hassle of packing up and 2 mile trip to Staples. But I would not recommend for others.
