They are able to be powered by a cord or battery, but batteries are not included. I was able to purchase some on Amazon at a reasonable price. The lights come with a carry case that can not only hold both lights, but the batteries, charger and a tripod as well. The light temperature, brightness and color can be adjusted. There are two switch settings on the light, I and II. I have no idea what the II setting does. When I set the light’s switch to that setting, nothing happens. The lights put off a lot of light and give my videos a very professional look. The light’s tripods are very secure and easy to use. There is no wobble with the tripod. It is very easy to adjust the height using the telescoping legs. The light assembly attaches very securely and stably to the tripod base. It takes me less than 4 minutes to set up each light
