Best Whistle
This whistle has a great higher-pitched sound than the PEARL which allows it to be heard in windy conditions or in background noise. The grip and size are perfect, and it works well.

must have for football officials
As a Line Judge / Head Linesman, I have a whistle on a lanyard to adjudicate false starts and encroachment. However, immediately upon the snap, I drop the lanyard whistle from my mouth to avoid the dreaded inadvertent whistle. When the ball is dead by rule, it's way to slow to find the lanyard whistle, put it back into my mouth, and blow it. Sometimes it takes as long as 1.5 to 2 seconds, which could result in late hits, etc. So the finger whistle is awesome for stopping the play immediately.

Its no-pea design ensures it works consistently, even in tough conditions, and the ergonomic grip makes it easy to use for extended periods.

Loud, comfortable, and functional. Works great and is a classic piece (Hockey Ref)
Wow it's loud. And, it fits comfortable on my hand (I have small hands and it's great). Fyi, I use it for reffing hockey. To address the low-star reviews: if you blow lightly into it, it barely sounds like a traditional whistle. If that's what you want, then get a pea whistle with the cork ball in it. This outshines those whistles when you get to the higher decibels. Blow hard into this and you'll really hear the difference.

Great Whistle, But Not For Hockey Refs
I love my Fox 40 Classic when I officiate cycling races. Loud and piercing, it's great for an outdoor environment. This isn't a great whistle for a hockey referee though. There are two basic problems. First, it lacks the classic sound players associate with a hockey whistle. They don't really hear it well. Secondly, some people have a hard time blowing it. My son particularly struggled to get a strong sound out of it. We're keeping them as backup whistles, but I've started using the Fox 40 Caul and my son is using an Acme Thunderer.I wouldn't use anything else outside, but hockey refs should look elsewhere.

Worth the money!
No more fishing for the whistle around my neck when I need it (football umpire). I thought it might interfere with ball handling, but no issues. It's secure and out of the way.

Blow the Whistle
As a soccer ref I need to have immediate access to my whistle. Too Short recommended this and I'm glad. It fit my adult fingers well and has a higher pitch than my prior whistle.
