The coat it’s self appears incredibly waterproof, giving a heavy cagoule feeling with an almost rubbery texture. The sizing is good. I usually fit a large in everything & this large has ample room for layers & thick jumper underneath. It would be easy to fold down but not if you’re looking for a packa mac type size. The downsides are that firstly, no pockets, which is a bit odd let’s face it. As it’s quite long, trouser pockets aren’t easily accessible so it’ll probably have to be nearly fully unzipped to gain access to any internal fleece / jumper pockets which again is a bit odd considering you’re probably wearing it in a downpour. The second huge design flaw is the hood. I wanted a peaked hood as I wear glasses & conventional hoods don’t keep the front of your face protected from rain enough when you pull the drawstrings. I had expected a short, shapable baseball cap type peak. This hood is really small. I have quite a small head compared to most anyway and this barely fits, let alone if you want to wear a woolly hat. It’s an odd cone shape and the leading edges are so short the SIDES of your face are still exposed? The peak isn’t malleable as expected so can’t be shaped to your head size / shape. It’s just a strip of plastic inside the seam. Altogether, the small size, odd shape & plastic strip actually leave your face more exposed to rain than a conventional soft shell type hood and doubly so when drawstrings pulled. Overall, the 3 stars were for good quality, actual waterproof jacket after years of being let down by soft shells / 3 in 1’s after a few months. The last 2 stars list for pockets & hood. Shame really.

This is still as waterproof as it gets, but they've saved a few pence getting rid of the pockets so it's useless now for outdoor work. They've ruined the best rain jacket.
