Vornado 633DC Energy Smart Medium Air Circulator Fan with Variable Speed Control, White

I got the 633DC, this is a great fan,. It's a little bigger than I expected to be but that's a good thing,. it's pretty much silent at the low speeds and it does get a little bit noisy at the highest speed what is really not that bad. I made a video to actually show you guys exactly how quiet and how loud it gets,. even on the highest setting I really don't have to have my TV turned up too much louder than normal to be able to listen to my TV,. the motor is pretty much silent on this thing so you're really just hearing the blades pushing and cutting through the air as they spin so it's a little quieter than most fans,. any fan where the blades are spinning at a high speed will get a little bit noisy though I mean that's just going to happen so I don't know why some people are complaining. if you position this in your room correctly it'll move air around your room like you wouldn't believe and it'll circulate your air around the entire room as advertised. if you don't position it in your room correctlt it's not going to work as good as it could so positioning is very very important, Get it right and you'll be amazed at how much cooler your room feels with this around half power maybe 60% power, at those speeds it pushes the air around a great and it's not even that noisy, around 50 or 60% it just feels like some nice background noise which will block out a lot of The unwanted noise from things happening outside or other people in your house,. I can still have my TV at a pretty low listening volume until I get around 70% or higher on this van and at that point I might need to turn the TV up just a little bit but not too much. but I would say this is about 15 or 20% bigger than the other medium air circulators I've had in the past,. I had a older vornado and unfortunately it took a pretty bad full one day and something happened to the motor when it hit the ground and we had to get rid of it,. it was great until that happened, after that I I bought this lasko air circulator fan that look just like a vornado design because it was dirt cheap on sale and I figure it must be just as good ,. It's always vibrated and rattled and the motor shaft it's still had a lot of play in it which was I think the reason that rattled and made so much noise and vibrated all the time it was a very noisy fan even on the lowest setting because of those things but I used it for a good six maybe seven years, it cooled the room okay but nowhere near as good as this thing or the old vornado. I noticed it was really getting worse on the rattling and shaking and vibrating so I said you know it's time to get something else so I got this and so far I am extremely happy bottom line though this fan is a beast and it's so nice to have this variable speed control or you can set the set the power exactly where you want it you don't have high medium and low you have you know 5% or 10% or 12% or 20% or 90% power or wherever you want to set it exactly to where you would like it. As long as this thing ends up being reliable in last many years I know it's a little bit of expensive but man it's totally going to be worth it,. Is this thing last 10 plus years I think I'll be pretty happy with that, it's amazing that these things have a 10 year warranty,. my understanding is the DC motor that this band has is a really really high end loader manufactured by a really grapes motor making company I guess you would say, I guess this company makes fans forserver power supply and server power supply will run 24 hours a day for years and years and years never being turned off so I'm going to assume this must be a really reliable motor in this thing. I can actually remember the name of the company that is supposedly making these motors but I know it's a very good motor making company. and supposedly this thing saves 80% more electricity over a regular fan which is very nice and I know a lot of these DC models had a external power supply which a lot of people didn't like what this particular model of the power supply is built into the fan itself. all I can say is awesome things I hope you guys enjoy the long review sorry it's a little bit long but I'm very happy and impressed with this thing.

I have only ever purchased cheap hardware store fans and box fans. So to spend $65 on a fan seemed a bit crazy, $100...out of the question. But I decided to try it out. I got a Vornado 630 and LOVED it. It is really great at directing air from my one window (a porch door) up into my loft. I loved it so much I decided to return it and get this. I use a fan CONSTANTLY. So I decided to do the math and figure out if the 633DC would be a worthy investment compared to the 630 and other cheap fans. It is. I pay $0.24/kWh. If I use the fan 1/3 of all hours in a year, it will pay for itself in 3.2 years. Less than that if I use the fan on lower settings or if I use the fan for more time out of a year. Even if I only use it 1000hours a year, it will pay for itself easily over 10 years (the length of the warranty). With that said, cheap box fans and utility fans move WAY more air. So if you need to throw a lot of air around (garage, gym, etc) and noise isn't a concern, those might be better options. But they will be more expensive over the long-term. So I bought the Vornado 633DC. I love it. It is a bit more powerful on the highest setting than the 630. It also has a slightly different sound (not really sure which is better). The lower settings on the 633DC are pretty unusable, in my opinion, they are just too low. But from 1/2 the dial and up, it can move a lot of air. 1/2 power on the 633DC seems to be about equal to the lowest setting on the 630. Personally, you are probably fine getting the 630 or the 633DC (any fan is WAY cheaper than turning on your A/C). They are both great. But I like the infinitely adjustable dial on the 633DC, I like that there isn't a power brick like the 610DC, I like the white color (dust is less visible), and it is SLIGHTLY more powerful on high than the 630. So even if it doesn't perfectly pay for itself, it is still better, imo, than the 630 and DEFINITELY cheaper than a box fan or utility fan in the long run. The 10 year warranty is an added bonus. Hope this helps you pick one!

We compared the 533DC (Small) and 633DC (Medium) models and ended up choosing the Medium. The deciding factor for us was the sound of the two fans, where the Medium is quieter and lower pitch. Both fans blow a very similar amount of air, with the small being a little more concentrated and the medium being a wider area. The small is very compact and a little cheaper, and it can move a lot of air for its size. But it can be a bit annoying to sit next to it with the louder volume and a higher pitch motor that can start to sound a little like a drone's "swarm of bees" type noise. In short, it sounds like a small fan working hard. The medium sounds like a bigger fan jogging along, lower pitch, lower rpm, and getting very quiet as the speed is turned down. Both fans compact, efficient, and quality. For us the Medium was the one we would prefer to live with and use, so that is the one we are keeping. If space and cost savings are the top priorities, the small fan delivers with performance above what its size would suggest. One last thing to look out for across Vornado's DC line is the power brick, which is hidden in the base on these two models but part of the cord for many others (including all of the models on a metal stand). To me, having the brick hidden away is a much cleaner design and it also makes the fans easier to move around.

I've been using this fan every day as a window fan and air circulator in my bedroom. My family had box fans growing up so I always assumed fans were all the same - loud, ugly, not particularly effective, and prone to toppling over Air circulators are different from box fans. Where a box fan stirs the air in the immediate vicinity of the fan, a circulator pushes a column of air in a particular direction. Circulators are much more effective at setting up a breeze in a room or moving air through a window. Typically an air circulator will have a circular duct around the fan blades that narrows towards the front of the unit, and a spiral grill to cancel out the rotational momentum of the air stream leaving the unit Compared to a box fan, this circulator is compact, easy to move and store, easy to put on a table or a windowsill and aim in the desired direction, it draws around 10 watts at 50% compared to 90 watts for a box fan on low, it moves many times more air on the high setting, and sets up a subtle breeze in the room on the lowest setting I think there are other air circulators that can be had cheaper, the key to this one is the continuously variable speed control - it can be completely silent at the lowest setting, it stays relatively quiet up to around 50%, and makes a sound like an open car window at the highest setting. I wish Vornado would put the variable speed control and brushless motor in their Alchemy or Vfan vintage style chassis, to be practical and beautiful at the same time

The main reason to get a fan like this is for it's efficiency due to the DC brushless motor. The fan draws a fraction of the wattage of conventional fans, especially at lower speeds. The fan is whisper quiet in the first half and gets loud in its maximum setting. I use this fan in the bedroom and it's barely audible. Also, this fan produces more than enough air to keep me cool throughout the night. On low is produces 92 CFM and 435 CFM on high. The knob to adjust the fan speed is super smooth. I really appreciate that I can have the fan speed always in the "perfect" setting. Note that this is the newer model that has the transformer/black brick incorporated into the feet of the fan so only a regular power cord comes out of this unit. The only downside of this fan is the price. There is a very high premium for the brushless motor. Don't buy it thinking to breakeven with the electric bill, it will take almost a decade to make up for the premium that this fan costs. Buy it for the quietness, infinite amount of fan speeds, and 10 year warranty.

I have owned several other Vornado fans over the years but this is by far the best. I bought this to replace a very old fan I had in my living room which was not powerful enough. I'm in an apartment in NYC and the summers here are hot and muggy. I work out of my home and spend many hours sitting at my desk in front of a computer, so I was willing to spend money for a really superior, powerful fan, and this one definitely fits the bill. I have a window AC but the fan enables me to restrict it's use to the worst days, thereby saving on my electric bill. Even when I run my AC I like to use the fan positioned on the opposite side of the room to spread the cool air around and create a breeze. It makes a huge difference. This fan is super powerful at the highest setting and has a wide spread. The quality seems first rate. I absolutely LOVE the continuous speed dial. It's worth paying extra money for that. It's vastly superior to a fan with only 2 or 3 speed settings. My biggest and only real complaint is that it is quite noisy at the highest setting, but that's the price you pay for power. I doubt it's any noisier than other fans that are as powerful as this. Maybe the Dyson isn't noisy (not sure) but it costs a fortune. If you dial the power down a bit the noise level decreases considerably. For many people I'm sure there are any number of less expensive Vornado models they'd be perfectly happy with, but if you want power and a continuous speed dial and great coverage and are willing to pay for it, I highly recommend this fan. I only wish Vornado offered it in black as well. The color is neutral and will work in pretty much any decor, but a black option would have been nice. My last piece of advice- when I was researching fans I ended up going to Vornado's website. I'm glad I did because I had no idea they made so many different models. What you see in big box stores is just a tiny fraction of what they make. If you are interested in purchasing a Vornado fan I highly recommend comparing all the different models on their website. You can then come back to Amazon and search for the models you are interested in and see if you find them on here, where you will probably get a better deal.

Awesome fan. Quiet and powerful.

It's unfortunate that Vornado makes it so confusing to pick a fan, and their website is dreadful to sift through, so I'll attempt to point out the key differences. But first, I ended up purchasing the 633DC, which is a part of Vornado's Energy Smart lineup THE GOOD: - energy efficient. 2-32 watts depending on the speed it's running (compared to the 630, the comparable non-DC model, which uses 38-53 watts) - analog dial for adjusting the speed, so you're not limited to 3-5 preset speeds like most fans - very quiet at lower speeds; quieter than other fans I've used running at similar speeds - no ugly power brick like some other Energy Smart models - easy to clean - the front cover comes off - 10 year(!) warranty THE BAD: - only available in white. would've preferred black. - can get loud when you crank it up, but that's the nature of a fan this size - pricey at ~$100 (though, this is hopefully offset by how energy efficient it is) Here's a rundown of the Energy Smart circular fans. I didn't consider purchasing a tower fan bc they're impossible to clean well, and the ones I've used in the past (not Vornado) tended to be on the noisy side. All Energy Smart fans are white except the tower ones, which are black. SMALL FANS - 533DC: a smaller version of the 633DC. I'm pretty sure this one doesn't have a power brick, so it's a good choice if you want something a little smaller - 5303DC: the fancier version of the 533DC. For the extra money, you get a remote & sleep timer. The speed control is digital instead of an analog dial (worse in my opinion). I don't care about having a remote, and I'll just use a smartplug if I want a sleep timer (and, I don't think a smartplug would work well with this model bc I’m pretty sure it won’t automatically turn on and resume when turning it off and on with the smartplug). MEDIUM FANS - 610DC: basically the same as the 633DC but with a power brick. it's about the same price too, so why bother? - 6303DC: fancier version of the 633DC. For the extra money, you get a remote & sleep timer. The speed control is digital instead of an analog dial (worse in my opinion). I don't care about having a remote, and I'll just use a smartplug if I want a sleep timer. - 683DC, 623DC, & 693DC: these are basically the 633DC on different stands, but all of them appear to have power bricks - 6803DC: this is basically the 6303DC, but it has a power brick LARGE FANS - 723DC & 783DC: larger versions of the 623DC & 693DC.... so basically a bigger 633DC but on a stand + ugly power brick

I am a stickler about noise so I have had a few fans claiming to be whisper quiet or silent and none of them met that so I was skeptical with this fan but decided to spend the money and try it. Although it is not completely silent I have to admit I only hear it if I am about 2 feet away from it - that is when I hear a faint sound coming from the fan but it's quiet enough that I don't have to increase the volume on the tv. But at the same low setting when it is about 4 feet away I cannot hear it at all and still feel the breeze. The one thing that I am extremely impressed with is I had it on a fairly low setting and I could feel the breeze circulating around my room when the facing wall that it was pointed to is 15' away. I was shocked so because of how much air movement comes out of the fan at the lowest settings, it's near silent, great circulation I am definitely keeping this fan and I recommend it. Now I am not concerned with how hot the summer will be because my home will be cool.

Blows a strong stream of air and is very quiet up to about 2/3 power (which is all you need). Important: Be sure to get the one with the fully variable control of the fan's speed. This is the fan's best feature. I think the manufacturer has started to bring out models with the usual 3-speed only control, which is by no means as good.

Love that it is energy efficient so you can leave it on all night for a minimal cost. Low, pleasing white noise sound at 1/2 speed. Has variable speed so you can customize your air flow which is great. Helps you sleep better. You can really feel the air moving around the room and my room is 13' x 13'. I have a Dyson and it is much louder. The cost is also much better than Dyson. Feels substantial and well built. Great purchase. Received it in 2 days.

A fan is a fan, right? That's what we thought. That's why we bought cheaper fans. They'd be fine in the beginning. Before long, they'd start making too much noise, even on the low setting. That's not good for WFH or sleeping. This 633DC "air circulator" is different. It's quiet and moves lots of air around the room. That's what we wanted. It doesn't oscillate, which is fine because oscillation can be noisy. A standard fan has 1-3 speeds. This DC fan has infinite speeds. That helps in getting the airflow just right. The 10 year warranty is a nice bonus and helps justify the price.
