Decided to Purchase despite questionable reviews.
I was kind of nervous buying this product as there are various reviews stating that it takes a long time for display to appear on the docked screen or the audio not working properly, however I decided to purchase it anyway. As of right now I'm currently writing this review on my 11 inch Macbook air that is docked to a dell screen and it is working just fine! I was really relieved that it works just as well as when I plugged in the VGA to thunderbolt 2 adapter and left my macbook closed on a pile of stacked books. Obviously that is not the safest place for a computer I'm glad that this dock has been a solution to that problem and has helped open up some space on my desk. For the audio I just have a speaker that connects via the headphone jack and it works fine. As far as the wireless reception being an issue I haven't had any problems. It works as well is it normally does in clamshell mode for me as it does open. Bluetooth reception is fine as I'm using the magic keyboard and magic mouse and I have no connectivity problems at all. I hope this review helps!

You May Experience Momentary Blackouts... Workarounds Have Been Known To Solve This
If you experience "blackouts" with this, i.e. occasional moments where the screen goes black and recovers 3/4 of a second later, try different Thunderbolt to DVI or VGA or HDMI adapters. For example...Working: * MacBook 11" + Henge 11" + Apple TBolt to VGA = clean * MacBook 11" + Henge 11" + Monoprice TBolt to VGA = cleanProblematic: * MacBook Air 11" + Henge 11" + Fosman TBolt to VGA = blackouts dozens of times per day * MacBook Air 11" + Henge 11" + Matrox DualHead2Go for Mac = blackouts dozens of times per day * MacBook 13" + Henge 13" + Apple TBolt to DVI = blackouts only a few times a month, but always with MLB.com in Chrome BrowserThe MBA 11" version only supplies TBolt and USB pass throughs, the 13" is a more complete solution. Given my MBA 11 dock frees up desk space it is worth it, even though I have to manually connect power and audio at the top. The 13" connects all essentials at the dock since those connectors are on one side.

It gets points for beauty and ergonomics, but that is about it.
Just to echo everyone else here:-- The wifi is spotty in clamshell position, and seemingly will only consistently work with the 2.4ghz band, not the 5ghz. This is not a huge deal if you're just browsing the web or sending emails, but if you deal with moving large files or doing work over a LAN, it becomes a huge problem.-- The audio doesn't work, which is strange since the audio port isn't blocked. But I've tried various speakers and headphones plugged into the audio port with no success. Yes, I checked to make sure the audio settings were pointed to the right device. I have not tried Bluetooth, but that shouldn't be a problem (I'd hope).-- Wake up is slooooooow. Plugged into the dock, it takes from 3-5 minutes from plugging it to wake up. I tested this before and after an OS update and it was the same. Out of the dock, when the laptop is asleep, response is nearly immediate.-- While the fit is to be seamless, sometimes you have to go into the dock from an angle to get it to seat properly. Which means the unibody gets scratched. It's a shame I decided to return this after the 30 days were up, because I'm stuck with a $50 piece of junk.

Great for Macbook Air Owners With the Right Set-up
As for the dock itself, It is very well made and I have loved Henge docks design since I first got one to use with my MacBook pro 13". The MacBook pro is very well made for this application since all ports are on the same side. The MacBook air, however, needs some tweaking in order for the set-up to work really well. First of all, I really like the fact that the cables are already pre-routed through the dock, so there is no set-up in that respect. Now, since the MacBook air only has two connectors on one side, you will first need a display adapter, and I strongly recommend a USB hub. If you want good internet while using the dock you will need either a wifi usb adapter or a USB Ethernet adapter. And if you want to listen to sound you can also get a USB audio adapter (which takes away the hassle of connecting a headphone cord manually). I have a set-up using a USB Ethernet adapter, USB audio adapter, and a USB port hub, which all cost around $75 including the dock. Try to find a better Mac docking station for less than that.

Space saver!
I got tired of my closed laptop taking so much space on my desk and having to plug stuff in by hand. I still have to attach the power adapter, but it is nice just sliding the laptop into the stand. It takes a fraction of the space on my desk which is very nice, and having my backup drive and monitor connect in one step is great. I wish it came in different colors/finishes and that it weighed a little more so I didn't have to hold the stand down to disconnect my laptop. Still a great solution for me and I would definitely purchase again.

Imprecise connection makes it less helpful
I bought this to make it easy for my wife to just dock and be done, rather than fiddling with cords. It totally failed since the docking was too imprecise. She would have to make sure to dock it holding it just right in the back near the hinge in order to get the connectors in the dock to line up. To the average user, it just doesn't work all the time. I did not not want the complication of explaining, "Oh it actually works, but you have to do like this..." It should plug in and work every single time with no thought to it. That is the point of its existence. I returned as defective since it was not working as intended.

Don't buy for a Macbook Air!
I have an 11" Macbook Air and the only problem I have is the screen can take 3-5 minutes to come on after inserting the Mac into the dock, or just trying to wake it by moving the mouse. Sometimes it comes on immediately and other times it won't come on at all. I have no trouble if I just plug the monitor into the Macbook, but for some reason the dock is intermittent. My Dad and brother both use a Henge Dock for their Macbook Pros and have never had an issue. Beware if you have a Macbook Air. I am returning mine.

Excellent...
I was looking for a suitable dock for my 11" Macbook air as I frequently use it with an external screen and wanted to save some desk space. The reviews here on Amazon for the Henge dock weren't desperately good, which put me off initially, but reviews elsewhere on the net were somewhat more positive, so I decided to take a gamble - and i'm glad I did.On arrival, the first thing that struck me is that this company take their packaging as seriously as Apple do. Secondly, the dock itself is a whole lot less flimsy than I had feared - in fact it's a very solidly made piece of kit and looks and feels like quality. I connected my screen to the mini displayport on the dock and then dropped the computer into the slot. Panic! No video!!! However, with a little bit of fiddling I realised that the computer had slid into the dock at a slight angle - which is why the ports at the back weren't making the correct connections. This was entirely due to the fact that the dock was brand new and a fairly tight fit. A few removals and re-insertions soon sorted out the problem, and with that rectified, the screen sprung into life.Overall I'm very impressed - especially given the reasonable price (laptop docks tend to be a lot more expensive than this). Heartily recommended

Good product, but just works as USB 2.0 passthrough
This is good product to have over your working table. But this item was compatible only with USB 2.0. So, if you need to use an USB 3.0 disk, think about buying the latest version!

Passt ZU Gut
