Factor 55 ULTRAHOOK Rope Guard

Looks like it will be a fine product. Exactly as advertised. I like that it came with an extra decal so you could match the orientation to the writing on the hook. Although, Factor 55 could have saved a few cents by not attaching the decal in the first place. Be prepared for a little tedious work installing the rivets. I tried 1/4” punch but I felt more comfortable with a 5/16”. The beveled face of the UltraHook makes the task a little awkward, but not impossible. I think I’d rather see the holes threaded and screws included. Once properly installed, this thing isn’t going anywhere. It is now permanently part of hook short of drilling the rivets out and probably damaging the hook itself.

Super easy to install with hammer rivets that are supplied with the rope guard. This will save your hinge point on your Factor55 hook.

The cover works well, but I've had some issues with the rivots that hold it in place and have had to replace them, but otherwise it works great at protecting the synthetic rope from damage.

A great addition to your Factor 55 ULTRAHOOK. Follow the instructions and have their recommended 1/4" pin punch on had to install the rivets. I had no issues installing them as many others have posted in their reviews. I think where they are getting hung up is that they aren't aligning the pin punch 100% with the rivet stud. If you don't do this, you will start hammering the pins in crooked and they won't go in all the way. Take your time, work on one at a time and keep the pin aligned!

The Factor 55 ULTRAHOOK Rope Guard is a complete disaster. Factor 55 is usually synonymous with flawless quality, but this product is nothing short of a joke. The concept is solid, and the machining is decent, but the hammer drive aluminum rivets are utterly useless they’re the exact same size as the holes. Because of this, you’ll never get a proper, secure fit, and the guard will pop off at the worst possible time. I spent over an hour hammering these rivets, trying not to destroy the guard or my tools. It’s an exercise in frustration, and completely unacceptable from a company that charges premium prices. While this is not needed nor required, it at least looks good. Be careful with installing the rivets. I used a towel on the concrete floor, a punch, and good hammer to knock them down. You would hate to ruin such a gorgeous finish. Looks great!

This can save your and others lives, it protects your recovery rope. If you need recovery gear that is robust and fit for purpose, go no further. Do your homework and you will find no better gear!!
