DIY Hoop 2B

This Hula Hoop was simple to install or put together. The tricky part was the ends where they meet, you must put some power to connect the ends. I love the sparkling tapes. I wish the tapes were more sturdy because after a few uses, the tapes started coming off or torn off as the hula hoop hit the ground too much. The 2 LBS weight of this hoop was pretty heavy to me because i'm used to the cheap plastic ones. It was a bit hard for me to keep the hoop up above my waist line in the first few tries. It is a bit heavier than regular hoops, so it will gives you bruises and make your body muscles aches. I did hoops for about 5 to 10 minutes the first day and man this hoop worked me out. I need to lose 25 LBS or at least 3 to 5 inches off my waist. The next day my hip had a bruise and my abs was sore which means i'm working out right. I increases the hoop time to 10 to 15 minutes on the next few days. Now my abs and hip is used to the hoop, so i don't get bruises no more and my muscles is getting used to the weight. I have lost 1/2 inches off my waist and it's only been 1 week. I also cut down on my diet and eat mostly plain foods and drink water. From time to time, i will sip a little bit of soda or eat a cup of ice cream as a treat. I might buy a heavier hoop later when i get used to this hoop. Thanks.

Initially this hoop looked perfect for what I needed; weighted so I could workout, yet light enough to (in theory) not leave bruises when I inevitably drop the thing. I thought that "DIY" suggested it would be able to come apart between uses for easy transport. However - The hoop is ridiculously difficult to put together. I had to get my husband, who works in security so he is really strong, to help me pull the last 2 pieces together. It took both of us all our effort to finally get it into one piece. If I was on my own I'd have had to return it. The tape is also not nearly so easy to put on - and you really need it to reinforce the joints. So needless to say after a few drops the joints have loosened and I am afraid it is going to come apart soon. The final insult to injury was that whatever these are made of REALLY REALLY HURTS when it smacks you in the ankle. I suppose if you are a pro hula-hooper that is not a concern, but for a novice - be warned! This may not be the best investment. If I still had the box I'd send it back even if I can't get a refund. I just don't want the thing anymore.

Easy to assemble. I used it right away with no issues and unlike my previous hoop I experienced no bruising with this hoop. A definite win. Nice size and weight.

This is my new favorite hoop! Easy to travel with & very sturdy! It doesn't creak & doesn't have any screws that get loose with wear & tear (& inevitably tear out your hair) all the pieces click together easily & you can either carry them with a hoop strap or just throw them in a bag. Fits in carry-on luggage too!

I'm glad I didn't spend more than I did on this ($21 I think?). I am 5'7" and regular build, and it is a little big for me, both in the size of the tubing itself and the breadth of the hoop. It's also heavier than others I have used, but about half the price, so I'll deal with it. But if I had it to do over, I would buy a hoop that's not in sections, is actual tubing (not heavy molded plastic), even if it cost more. It was easy to put together, but I got tired of wrapping the tape around. One of the tape rolls comes off in pieces, and I'm not sure if I'm using it incorrectly or if it's defective, but I didn't bother finishing, so mine looks a bit scrappy.

This hoop was super easy to put together. I know a lot of people said they had trouble. I found that when you connect all the pieces, the bend isn't right to connect them and you have to pull the plastic so they meet. I did this by putting my feet at the bottom of the hoop and pulling the two ends up until they met correctly to fasten them. Once I got the hoop together, I tried to use it. The reviews that say it's heavy are completely true. I bruise easily so my hips were totally black and blue. It hurt to use this hoop. And heaven forbid that you drop it and it hits your foot... I suppose this hoop would be good for someone used to hooping that never drops and and wants the weight for fitness reasons, but I personally returned this hoop and ordered a polypro hoop from Etsy.

Good product. It helped me to get started, and now I just took two prices off and can advance my training. Unfortunately it's not so easy to take pieces out. A little rough to handle. Which makes it not so ideal for travel. The customer service is good.

It isn't weighted and it is very bendy and doesn't hold it's form well. this is a traditional children hula hoop and not not useful for me.
