Happy so far...
Replaced an old Garmin Forerunner that I had mounted to my handlebars. I was tired of jumping through hoops to upload my rides via Ant+ and wanted something with Bluetooth, as well as something with a touch screen and ability to integrate with the Garmin Varia. The 820 checked all the boxes and was reasonably priced. Happy with it so far. My only complaint it the non-user-friendly interface. Every Garmin product seems to suffer from poor UI design, and this one is no different. One star off for that.

Buggy, temperamental, badly supported and all around disappointing.
I ride a bike 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. My road GPS is an Edge 1000, and my trail GPS has always been an Edge 810. I crashed during an enduro and broke the 810, which lead me to the 820. And all it's really done has made me miss my 810.... Where to begin with this thing? I had to return it three times before I got one that worked. One was DOA and wouldn't power up. The second worked great for about 3 miles, locked up, and then despite multiple attempts would crash or hard lock every single ride. The third works, but with more obnoxious firmware quirks than any Garmin device I've ever owned. I'm constantly having to re-pair this thing with my phone bluetooth. I constantly have to remove and re-add it to my home Wifi. Even then, it's a total coin toss as to wether or not it will auto-upload my activity. It hangs. It crashes. It beeps incessantly once you finish your activity (see the Garmin forums for more on this) as it constantly finds the same sensors over and over. Garmin doesn't care about inexpensive consumer devices like this, so don't expect any type of proper support for it whatsoever. Their bread and butter is commercial fishing GPSs, so your $289 cycling unit is small potatoes. If the Wahoo units didn't require an outrageously overpriced adapter to work with all of my existing GPS mounts, I'd return this thing again and put Garmin in my rear view mirror. Don't buy this, get a used/refurb 810 instead. It's a MUCH better unit in every way.

Good option in 2025
I know this is the old product but it’s a budget friendly, nice bike computer that does everything you need it to without the added cost for a casual biking person.

Get it
Had problems with refurbished electronics in the past but I love it. Might as well be brand new. As far as the computer itself. It does everything I want and more. I almost talked myself into the new 530 but saving so much money and having all my expectations exceeded is awesome.

Garmin Performance (refurb)
I have purchased a few Garmin refurb units in that past and have found equal performance with Out of Box New. The unit performs well and it compact enough to still use your handle bars.
