Programmable features couldn't be worse
If you need a programmable thermostat you can’t do worse than this. It was obviously designed by someone who never owned or used a heat pump. It’s bad on the AC side but far far worse on the heat side. It will make your house uncomfortable and your heat pump a money pit. Unfortunately it’s the only thing I can use with my super expensive variable speed heat pump.First, never sign up for the Nexia feature. It has no value except to give your data to Nexia so they can probably sell it, and nag you to pay them a monthly fee at the same time.Second, many of its problems relate to its inability to run a schedule. And why would you buy a very expensive programmable thermostat if you weren’t going to do that. Let’s say you decide to bump the temperature a degree for some reason. There is no “return to schedule” button. You have to go into “permanent hold” mode and then back to “schedule mode” just to get back on schedule. Other American Standard thermostats had this feature in 2005.Thirdly, this thermostat does not understand how to ramp between temperatures. If you set the AC to be 85 degrees while you are out during the day and 75 when you get home at 6, it will not start cooling until the clock strikes 6. Honeywell thermostats could ramp down to the new temperature in 1993, I know because I bought one.But the real fatal flaw is on the heat side. Say you set the heat to be 65 degrees during the day and 75 when you get home at 6, it will not start heating until the clock strikes 6. Further it will turn on your emergency electric heat strips to get to 75 as quickly as possible turning your super efficient 20 SEER heat pump into a money pit.

Not well made
I'm on my 3rd unit in 3 years. First 1 didn't work out of the box. Second unit lasted 2 1/2 years before going flakey. Luckily it's under warranty. Wouldn't buy again, if it didn't come with the hvac unit.

Easy Install
Work great and nice to look at

It is big, and it controls the American standard communicating equipment.
Works good. Connect to WiFi so you can use their app to change or monitor from a mobile device. It keeps track of the run time of the unit so you can see exactly what’s happening over time. Shows a great chat of each mode color coded with total run time, cool stage 1, 2, heat stage 1, 2, aux 1, 2.Also shows the weather, outdoor temp, etc.It is a little slow when booting up, and I wish you could set it on the weather and have it updated the screen every few minutes (15 or 30 or even 60), but it doesn’t update any data unless you back out of the screen and go back in. That’s the fifth star, guys. Fix that and I’ll give you that star. It’s also a bit expensive.

The AccuLink lacks Adaptive Intelligent Recovery, so it does not know when to ...
Works well for what it does. Have used a Honeywell for some time and AuccLink is not intuitive when you temporarily change a scheduled temperature and then want to go back to the schedule. The AccuLink lacks Adaptive Intelligent Recovery, so it does not know when to start to have reached a set temperature at a specific time. You make your best guess manually, so on cool days the AC starts early and on hot days the desired temperature is not reached when you get home in the afternoon. My Rachio sprinkler control knows when it rains, so skips cycles. Why would a thermostat not use known temperatures and known recovery times to have ideal comfort at a minimum cost? American Standard needs to catch up!

Constantly stops working
Only lasted 2 years now constantly stops in the middle of the night and screen flashes. “Temporary fix” was to lower screen brightness to 10% but that only lasted for a few months and problems came back. Furnace and heat pump we’re all installed brand new along with thermostat less than two years ago. Terrible thermostat and I wish I can switch to something other than Trane thermostats. These things aren’t very “smart”.

Only lasted 20 months!
We bought a home that had a newly installed American Standard HVAC system with the Platinum thermostat. The thermostat had a 10 year warranty but it did not tansfer to new owners. The Thermostat went bad and we have no warranty to cover it. Not to mention the American Standard unit also failed in less than two years, fortunately it was covered by the home warranty bought by the sellers. I have never owned American Standard products before and I will never buy them again.

Worst thermostat ever.
It fails very two or three months. You have to do a hard reset every time. Programing it is way to time consuming. If you can avoid buying this, do so.
