The Vampire Diaries - Seasons 1-2 Complete

Previously bought the DVD box sets but love The Vampire Diaries so much that I decided to treat myself to the Bluray box set of seasons 1 and 2 - not a bad price for the whole lot. However, very disappointed when season 1 discs would not play at all on my fairly recently purchased Sony Bluray player. Season 2 played fine and various other Blurays I tried worked fine, but season 1 would not even load to the point of giving me a menu. On all 4 discs I got the copyright warning and then nothing - it just ground to a halt. I firstly thought I'd got a problem with the discs and returned them to Amazon - very swift turnaround as usual, thank you Amazon, and my replacement arrived two days later. Still wouldn't play. I got a friend to try them and they played on a PS3 so I was a tad flummoxed. Decided to do a firmware update on my Bluray player and hey presto, it worked. What I find bizarre though is that it is season 1 (ie older discs) that didn't play, not season 2. I would have thought that later discs would have had stronger copyright protection on them and need the update, not the older ones. Anyway. So, a word to all you Sony Bluray player owners out there - if you buy this, you'll need to ensure that you've done a recent firmware update, otherwise you'll find yourself watching a blank screen instead of lots of exciting vampire stuff. The Bluray of this is well worth the purchase - superb picture and sound.

Out of all the genre series that I've watched, The Vampire Diaries has probably been my favourite. Season 1 may have started a little slowly but that's often the case with new shows and it soon started to pick up pace. Season 2 was when it really hit it's stride and each episode moved the story along with no filler episodes and I was left wanting to see more at the end of each one. The series is often compared to the Twilight films which is not a good comparison as Vamp Diaries has a darker tone, has far more twists and turns in the plot and actually has genuine and believable character development. I'm looking forward to season 3.

The characters are engaging and watching becomes compulsive after a few episodes. By Season 2, you'll be thoroughly involved with the story and the acting improves by leaps and bounds as the series progresses. The 2 season boxed set is good value but, be warned, it is REALLY gory in parts.

I purchased this DVD boxset for a friends birthday she was watching all the episodes in her free time and took two weeks to finish and now is waiting for the third series on DVD. She highly recommends this series for anyone who like vampires.

Elana is not Bella. Elana is stronger. Elana is more emotionally stable and doesn't feel compelled to be turned into a vampire, in fact she hates the thought of it. She is willing to give up her boyfriend for the greater good, and doesn't retreat into a pathetic hole when things does not go her way. With that off my chest, there is very interesting dynamics between the two vampire brothers, and there are lots of twists you don't see coming but feels very natural to the story. Lots of passion too, and love triangle. Many of the characters have really interesting story arcs, even the "dumb blonde" Caroline and the aggressive jock Taylor. The story definitley doesn't just focus on Elana's love triangle mess. The story is much meatier than who will Elana romance. Twilight's story mainly centred on Bella, Edward and Jacob. Vampire Diaires story covers the whole town that this series is set in and all the characters that live in it. This is a really interesting and addictive show, highly recommend it.

Just another one of those vampire/supernatural series? Not Vampire Diaries...! It is one of the Best TV Series of the decade! Ian Somerhalder is absolutely brilliant in it and the series has you hooked from the beginning to the end! Don't even think twice before buying a copy of this... Highly Recommended!!

Bought it as a gift for a friend which they were very pleased with, I got it on offer so very good value for money and quick delivery. Would definitely recommend it.

Je suis très heureuse de mon achat, les épisodes de la série qui sont géniaux (ça on le sait avant d'acheter) , le coffret cartonné contenant les 2 boitiers DVD des saisons 1 et 2 est très décoratif, illustré de belles photos des héros de la série. Le cadeau est constitué d'un petit pot noir de 6 cm de haut où est inscrit en blanc "Vampire Diaries", il contient un sachet de graine de verveine -ou Veine de Vénus-, ainsi qu'une pastille de terre compacte qui devrait vous permettre de faire pousser votre propre verveine pour vous protéger des assauts des buveurs de sang. Je recommande ce produit!

This was a gift for someone else and they loved it so I give it a five star rating. The packaging was good and it arrived in lots of time for the special day. I recommend this to those who love this series.

the item is perfect: extra are so good, and you can even select subtitle for them (I'm Italian). I order not from amazon shop, but from rarewolf (new item private seller from the list) and it arrives in perfect condition. All work well, quality is super! Only cons is that the light rise and fall when you see an episode, don't know if it's the dvd or the television (but I don't think my tv control alone the lights of a video) or if it's only an some episode (I haven't watched them all yet). L'oggetto è perfetto: gli extra sono fantastici, anche le scene tagliate e i gag reel|second bite (errori in scena), si può scegliere i sottotitoli (tramite il telecomando del lettore dvd) anche per gli extra (in inglese). Non l'ho ordinato dal negozio di amazon, ma da uno dei venditori della lista degli oggetti nuovi (rarewolf) ed è arrivato velocemente (pochi giorni) e in condizioni perfette. Tutto funziona perfettamente e la qualità è fantastica! L'unica pecca è che la luce sale e scende da sola durante gli episodi, guardando una scena si vede la luce aumentare o diminuire da sola. Non so se è dovuto alla mia tv o al dvd (ma nn credo la mia tv cambi la luce dei film da sola) oppure se è solo in alcuni episodi (non li ho ancora visti tutti). Rate: 4/5 (for the light problem, but +1 for the extra subtitled)

I'm a believer. Here's what I believe: Vampires would not tolerate the destruction of their planet. So there are no vampires, of course. The proof is the dangerously large overpopulation of a planet that can only SUSTAIN 500 million to 1 billion "productive" human beings. But don't worry. It's not the END of the WORLD...just us...and soon. Meanwhile I remain a believer in Amazon. At least SOMEONE did something right. Bruce C

Prodotto che consiglierei agli appassionati del genere, spero esca a breve anche un cofanetto con stagioni 3/4! Il telefilm si snoda armonicamente nel corso degli episodi ed a mio giudizio non risulta un prodotto prettamente adolescenziale, ma adatto ad un pubblico variegato.
