Value = Low Price + Great Product
Findley Reed Joint Supplement for Dogs - Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM 120 TabsI bought this brand after reading through what the recommendations were for dog formulations versus human formulations of joint supplements. The difference?Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is to enhance the uptake of the supplements into a dog's blood. After reading this on multiple product descriptions, I realized what I was buying, a formulation specific to dogs. So I old friend won't be getting my supplements and I bought these. Why did I choose these? The price for one, and the active ingredients were another one.GlucosamineChondrotinMSMHyaluronic acidVitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)Yucca ExtractTumeric ExtractBoswellia ExtractManganeseHeck, these are better than the stuff I am taking!Do I recommend them: Yes.I still question what other products are used in this formulation. Why is there a difference in price from the other products? Is this a generic product where the ingredients are within +/- 2% of the predicate's formulation? Do they skimp on the ingredients? Do they assume to make a smaller profit margin on each bottle? Do they use a different tablet press that is faster than the competitors? Do they have a more efficient manufacturing process (or bigger)?I am not sure, but my dog is able to run and prance around me as I was mowing the lawn 3 days after he started taking them. He was not doing this before because he had trouble getting up and was not as mobile before taking them. He even started jumping onto the couch again! I was shocked. These work great as my dog is 13 years old, and his mobility was not very good. He was even having trouble going up stairs. Although this product helped, he is not the young buck he used to be. But he is more mobile and happier since he has been on them.Another thing, these tablets are big (size of a quarter). Plus my dog does not like the taste. The resolution: I put almond butter (or peanut butter) on it before I give it to him. Now he loves taking the pills!

Excellent product that has really helped my 13 year old ...
Excellent product that has really helped my 13 year old beagle. Great price comparatively. Packaged nicely. The only reason not 5 starsis because I have to coax her to eat it with a treat. It really doesn't smell like liver and probably doesn't taste like it either.

Dog Doesn't Like the Taste, But They Do Work...
Unfortunately our dog does not like the taste of these chewable pills. We did not think this would be an issue, since she likes pretty much everything we feed her. The pills are big and we have been sprinkling them over her supper and she has been eating it all that way. It would be simpler if we could just give her the pill though. The pills do seem to be helping her mobility, but would not purchase them again. Will try another brand next time...

Left horrible staining on dog
The first time I bought this it seemed pretty good. Reordered and an ingredient was added that left yellow stains on my Maltese' mouth. Sent back immediately!! Should have left it the way it was originally!!

My dog doesn't like the taste
I used a different type before so I have to say that it works just as well but my dog doesn't like it so I have to crush it into a powder and put it on his food. The tablet is very hard and doesn't crush. The other type I used was easily crushed between my fingers. I know other reviews said that the tablets were all broken inside bottle when they received them. I have to assume the company changed the formula to help with that problem but I think they went to far. Maybe just better packaging would have helped.

Perfect for us, except the tablets can get hard in the jar after three months
We have a 19-pound Jack Russell terrier who sometimes runs with his right hind leg held up. We also recently got a young 9-pound "Jackhuahua" (Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix) whom the vet diagnosed with luxating patellas -- trick knees, in the vernacular. She often runs with one or the other hind leg held up. With internet research, we found the following recommended daily dosages for dogs: Under ten pounds, 399mg of glucosamine, 125mg of chondroitin, and 200mg of MSM. For dogs between 10 and 20 pounds, 600/250/400 (in the same order). The Findley Reed formulation is 500/200/300 per tablet, which seems like a perfect compromise for both our dogs (once a day). And as others have written, the price is good. (By the way, it's frustrating to see other products listed on Amazon without their formulations.) When the tablets are fresh (there's a dessicant mini-package in the jar), we can crumble them into the dogs' canned food. Our only criticism is that after three months (we bought two bottles), the last 20 or so tablets in the bottle are too hard to crumble, so we soak them in hot water overnight, mash the softened result, and spoon the liquid into the dog food. Buy this stuff!

My dog doesn't like them but I can tell she feels better after consistent use.
I sometimes have to really encourage my dog to eat them, or even ocassionally result to pushing the large tabs down her throat. But She moves much better when she takes them regularly. You wont find a product with this many research proven ingredients, at such strong therapeutic doses, at this price.there are so many other products that cost so much more and include far fewer therapeutic ingredients, with even smaller doses of those ingredients that are included, that I will continue to buy these. When taken regularly, she no longer hesitates to jump on to our taller bed, or run up stairs, etc..The medicine may be slightly bitter to my dog but I know it helps her run, jump, and get up from the floor more comfortably, and I still have enough money left over to buy high quality grain free food.
