I have small slit-like tears in my leather chair. Will this hold the tear together?

I would insert and flatten a piece of fabric inside the slit so that 5he fabric is under both sides of the year. Then apply the glue on the flatten fabric and press both sides of the tear together to close and apply pressure for glue to adhere to the tear.
