A MUST!!! See your water clear up in a few hours! ...and more notes!!!
There's no safer or faster way to remove Phosphates! No chemicals to affect your fish. SO effective!!! If you are using it for the first time, but two packs...you'll want to change it out more quickly the first time or two abc then one cut out piece will last a looooooong time once your issues are under control! Get a slime control product as well as you'll be very happy!!!*** this pad collects phosphates so it's like a Petri dish for algae!!! Clean it often or your filter will fill with thick chunks of green and algae living off the phosphates it collects out if your water! It's just doing its job! Keep up an anti-algae regimine (just buy copper sulfate in bulk...8 little crystals will treat a 25g tank! And you'll have enough to treat tanks for a lifetime!!! Also to scrub off all tank components and glass! Just WATCH your fish for toxicity IF YOU USE PURE COPPER SULFATE!!! AND KEEP CRAZY HIGH OXYGENATION (just let water level stay a few inches low and your filter will crash water back in from more height and create more dissolved O2!)!!!

Really works!
I purchased this to see if I could get rid of this blackish algae that was all over my plants and greenish black algae on my decorations. I haven’t the slightest idea how this works but it did. I cut a small piece and put in my HOB filter. It took a bit but eventually all the algae was gone. I still have a ton of this left so it lasts a really long time, especially for how little it costs. Great value for the money!

Testing Seems to Indicate This Works
I use this just when I have a Phosphate spike. I fold it up into an accordion shape and put it into one of my sump chambers where water flows along it. I don't use it like a filter pad because I think it would clog up too fast. It's always hard to be sure which variables did what, but my testing would indicate this stuff does a better job of reducing Phosphate than Phosguard does. With a mild reduction in feeding, this helped me pull Phosphate in my 50gal tank from 0.12 to 0.04 within about 10 days. I used the whole pack in that time. Phosguard on the other hand has only proven good for about a 0.02 reduction per pouch.

Solved My Issues
My 55g freshwater aquarium always had a cloudy bacterial bloom (1.0 ppm phosphate level, according to API's test) that no other resources could get rid of - I asked all the questions from experts and tried all the solutions offered; even only keeping my aquarium lights on for 5 hours a day. Bi-weekly water changes with careful substrate vacuuming would only help a little bit. This was my last step before I went with bottled chemical treatments. The pad is nice and thick pad, no issues cutting it with normal scissors. I measured it to fit my HOB filter, cut it, rinsed it, added it it in with my other filter media, and then did a water change. Within less than 24 hours, my water was crystal clear. Shockingly clear. Like...amazingly clear. It works as intended and then some. Two thumbs up.

Works winders
I have a 75 reef and I was skeptical about if this would work or not especially for my problem. I was dealing with diatoms issues and I didn't know where they were coming from. My phosphate levels read very low and I don't over feed or over light. My tank is 6 months so i expected it was coming from still being a new system. This was a $6 add on so I gave it a shot. Before adding this to my tank I usually cleaning the glass every 4 days, I also started getting diatoms grow on my sand bed out the blue and was so dark that I had to siphon it out. It came back but not as strong afterwards. After I place the pad in my trickle tower, I started to notice less diatoms on the glass and its been almost two weeks since I added this and the diatoms is almost gone from my sand bed. Its dying off and I haven't cleaned my glass in over a week. Going thru stages in your tank can get on your nerves and I can say this pad really helped get rid of that nerve bothering problem. I don't know how long the pad last but its only one way to find out.

Hard to size
This product is great but you have to cut it down to size to fit your filter. The only problem I had that it was very difficult to cut to size due to its thickness
