This is an excellent and very useful guide. If you own or run a business, are or are involved in sales, I recommend you read it. And if you are thinking of setting one up, read this book first. The advent of the internet began a revolution in how a business connects with customers. Prior to the digital age, marketing followed an outbound model - information, expertise and knowledge of product and marketplace was concentrated within the company and had to be pushed to the public via advertising and sales reps. In our fast changing times this model has largely been turned on its head. The majority of prospects arrive via an inbound path, from customers who are already educated about their needs and options, and who have filtered out your competitors and chosen your product or service. They are very often unknown to you until the point of purchase. These inbound customers arrive not by magic, but through the knowledge and skill you have employed in creating your online content - content that gets noticed and brings you the inbound traffic. Content is all, and the effectiveness of it makes the difference between sink or swim for a business. This excellent book gives the guidance and reassurance needed for you to keep your head above the water in these challenging and changeable times. It's highly relatable, and full of anecdote and examples. My one complaint is the quality of some of the graphics: at times they are small, dark and poorly printed. I assume they're lifted from the HubSpot web site, but some of them don't translate well to monochrome print. However, the reader is given a great deal of practical, actionable advice from basic things like writing effective copy to the creation and implementation of long term strategy. Some of the advice might appear basic, but I see countless examples every single day of sellers failing to heed even these supposedly basic principals. And that potentially gives you the edge, because you're already here, considering buying this book. All you need to do now is read it and beat your competition to the customers! This is one book in a series of three. I recommend them all.

Very Good
I lecture in International Business at Universities in the EU. I am also a Business Consultant helping small to medium size companies survive in challenging times and grow their customer base. The old formula was to show the student and client the differences between advertising and marketing. In the information age, this is no longer adequate. We have to go one step further and now focus upon the content of that marketing. This can be a great challenge for a small business. Yet the challenge can be met with great success. Once upon a time small businesses found it exceedingly hard to advertise via the very costly Yellow Pages and TV advertising. Mastering web advertising and marketing can be done by a small enterprise and this book will help. The book instructs the reader on how to create great content and how content is crucial to growing your business. You simply read the book, do the exercises and by the end of the book, you will have created a content workbook full of ideas to help your business. By focusing on a story for your business and coming up with long-term strategies for the content, you develop great content. It also gives you tools to measure your success and know if its working. This book will help any business to create an online advertising and marketing campaign, which will help you stand out from the crowd. I am happy to Highly Recommend the book.

A competent online business guide
A competent online business guide to help create an effective online presence to engage and maintain customers. It's well delivered and relatively concise- as with a lot of these manuals, it's more a collector of existing info that can be gleaned from the internet [not least on the author's own Hubspot site], so there's not a lot of original, groundbreaking tips here but nonetheless it is a very good reference point with well targeted advice.

Solid content in an uninspiring package
As a marketer I get very excited about the potential for any resource that's going to help me do my job more effectively. We all like a nice 'how to' guide, don't we? Justin Champion's book, A Step By Step Guide to Doing Content Marketing the Inbound Way, is a solid introduction for anybody looking to bring their content marketing skills into the digital age. It contains helpful tips and walkthroughs for anyone wanting to understand inbound marketing on digital platforms, including: Generating content ideas | Repurposing your content | Creating your content strategy | How to write effectively | How to measure and analyse your content. Let's say it's a big tick for the content of a book about content.However....there's not an awful lot in here that I haven't already read at some point on the Hubspot website itself, presumably for which this same content was purpose-designed; in fact it's much easier to access online, especially as lots of digital references are included. The translation from big screen to small page has not been a happy one. The book contains many screenshots which are illegible or which can only be viewed under a microscope (see below), and has been printed on thin paper which doesn't feel particularly nice to touch. The front cover is uninspiring, and all marketers know how important good product packaging is to help customers differentiate in a crowded marketplace.Although the content of this book is irrefutably definitive, there is a certain amount of irony that this is a book about repurposing content which is itself repurposed content, only which hasn't been done as well as the original.
