Good for the money
I got this about a month ago when is was 405 quid, and it even arrived a day earlier than anticipated. A good start. The spec is meaty enough to handle everything I do. It's pretty cool to have i3 chip, 4Gb RAM at this price point. The only very slight downer for me (occasionally) is the lack of a third USB port like the satellite it replaces. No big deal really though. If it becomes a regular issue, I just get a hub. End of.I stripped out the lame software. I found the facial recognition thingy a rather a naff novelty, only working half the time. Now it dual boots with Ubuntu Linux (no Wubi, created a new partition). ***If you do this you will need the linux drivers from Realtek for the wireless adapter to work***This was the only headache for me at first when configuring this machine. It took me a couple days of head scratching (OK, swearing, & cursing), to figure out the (Linux) wireless internet connection, but it's all good now, and it worked right out the box without issue when booting into Win 7, thank goodness. The above tip will be a massive timesaver for those wishing to set up a similar dual boot machine! Forget all the the iwconfig, ifup, wpa_supplicant tinkering and faffing about etc, go straight to the Realtek site and get the drivers (I used ver 0003 RTL8192CE Linux driver), run the makefile and bingo, it will work. Super easy, once you know!In general, I rate this machine highly for the money I paid. Oh, and the only other slight. downer for me is the speakers.Weak! I know you can't expect much from laptop speakers, but seriously, they are night & day different from the speakers in the machine they replace. Not in a good way either. It's been quite a while since I heard speakers so tinny & quiet. I even checked the drivers and audio config, I thought something was wrong! If you want to listen to tunes, get headphones, or speakers. For the times I want to listen to tunes I got me some cheap Logitech X-140 2.0 speakers. Sorted. No more tinny sound. I'm not a gamer, and not running Reason or Vegas on this rig, so it's really no big deal. At the end of the day, I knew the specs before buying, and there are no surprises. Maybe I underestimated slightly what I wanted/needed, hence the minor gripes. In all, this little beauty does exactly what I bought it to do. Very happy to have caught it while it was going for less than current market price.

Good Spec and value for money, shame about the wifi
This laptop was bought for my young daughter as a first laptop. I did look around for a long time as I wanted to avoid the lower spec, i.e. Celerons, poor integrated gtaphics etc. This one ticked all the boxes, Intel Core i3-370M, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD (integrated but good spec) large memory of 4gb. I wanted it to be as future proof as possible, its ok running todays software but will it run tomorrows, I feel paying that little more now will make it last that bit longer.Delivered one day late but with the weather as it was, I'm not complaining, as usual Amazons check out system was as it always is, effortless.Unpacked, thought I'd do all the updates before the big day, install the printer and the software we had already bought, on like a dream. I initially checked the wifi, saw it was working and then went on wired which is so much quicker for file transfer. All setup, photos, videos, links, content advisor and desktop all set up for a 10 year old. Wrapped up and awaited xmas day.Christmas Day arrives, unpacked and setup in the bedroom, on xmas day, didn't use the internet much, she was so impressed with the Aldi drawing tablet and the digital camera, never really got round to the internet.Boxing day, she wanted to do a bit of surfing, it kept dropping out, the home network was working but the internet was so erratic it was unusable. Got the Google page up then a white screen, refreshed got a bit further and dropped out again. I linked it up to the wired LAN and it was ok, searched for updates, all fully uptodate. I compared it to the settings on the 2 other laptops in the house, no different. A bit of research on the net led me to discover that other people had the same problem with the Realtek RTL8188CE wireless Lan though there did not seem to be much on the Toshiba support page. Anyway to cut a long evening short, I found some updated drivers that although weren't specific to the C660 they were compatible with the Satellite range. All fully working now.I would certainly have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the WiFi issue. What is it about the PC industry, any other item you buy, washing machines, TV's etc are sold fit for purpose and we'd very quickly return, if there was an evening spent trying to fix it. PC's for some reason, its ok if it doesn't work, there will be a fix on line. OK I was able to do it, but how many other customers could. Out of date drivers or issues like this should be flagged and customer made aware. The WiFi on delivery was worse than useless. All fixed now and would recommend providing you're confident in updating the drivers.

Good but there is no Firewire port
On the whole I have been pleased with the laptop. It arrived very quickly and was easy to set up. Wifi connected automatically and Skype worked fine. I like the keyboard and numeric keypad. I don't like mousepads but I've bought a wireless mouse and that has made all the difference. The battery seems fine so far but I don't use it away from home much so haven't really tested it. I agree with other users that the speakers are very poor.I don't like all the preinstalled stuff from Toshiba and it's taking me a while to find my way around Windows 7. I was happy with XP and I don't know why Microsoft have to change the software so much instead of making improvements. Searching for files, in particular is very difficult in Windows 7. The worst thing is that I find I can't copy files from a video camera because there isn't a firewire port. I did quite a lot of research but I didn't know this was something I needed. This is very disappointing as I was intending to copy all my daughter's videos and put them on disc. I still mainly use my PC but the laptop is good for using the internet and is easy enough to carry around the house.
