It's been great - the ring on the noseband keeps the muzzle ...
I tried to go the cheap route after buying the Greenguard muzzle and use one of my own halters. But, after my gelding managed to get around the muzzle - and no amount of "rigging" would keep the muzzle over his mouth, I gave in and purchased the Greenguard halter. It's been great - the ring on the noseband keeps the muzzle in place and the strap from the noseband to the crownpiece also keeps it secure. And, though my husband's nickname for our gelding is now "Bain", the gelding doesn't mind it at all. Also, the halter is padded in places and is fully adjustable.I've only had on issue with the whole set-up. One morning I found my gelding with his nose between the muzzle and the halter and he was grazing like a mad man. I found the best way to fix the problem was to tighten the buckles that attached the muzzle to the halter to decrease the space between those two things (so he couldn't push his muzzle through). After doing that, the halter was too tight, so I loosened the crownpiece and allowed a comfortable amount of space for my geldings nose in the muzzle area and it works great now!Thankyou Greenguard!

Def worth getting
Glad we got the halter to go with the Greenguard muzzle. I'm pretty sure it has helped keep the clever pony from removing his muzzle! We would have wanted a dedicated muzzle halter anyways, esp since we had to wrap the attachment straps with duct tape. (Hint - just do it from the beginning. We lost quite a few straps before taping - haven't lost one since)The center strap keeps things where they should be - he has not been able to remove it, nor have we had any rubs.It just made sense, after making such an investment in the Greenguard muzzle, to set him up for success :-)

Love it so far
I think I love it even though my horse doesn't. He tries to get it off but its only come off once. It could have been pulled off by a pasture mate, I didn't see what happened. I'll have to see how it works as spring goes on. I did add orange duck tape to the sides so I can find it easier if it gets off. Customer service is helpful. Make sure you tell your horse how handsome he looks when he first starts wearing it. Poor guy!
