New mouthpieces may retain the characteristics of the Ebonite material and may tarnish if stored in a silver-plated musical instrument, ligature, or cap with a silver plated musical instrument. In addition, it is prone to discoloration even when stored in high temperatures and humid places.
In order to avoid silver plated discoloration, we recommend storing your mouthpiece separately from your instrument in the outer pocket of the musical instrument case (wrapped with a soft cloth, such as a risk of breakage). (discoloration will be less likely after the seasoning period. )
