The hood isn't quite as nice or fits quite as well as the Olympus original hoods, but for the price they're just fine. So why am I giving it a solid 5 stars?I took my camera on vacation, and while I was messing with my camera bag my precious 45mm lens fell out and hit the concrete pretty hard, hard enough to send the lens cap flying. The lens hood was on in the reverse position. The hood was badly scratched, and it doesn't fit quite right anymore but it performed perhaps its most important duty: it saved my lens. The hood got messed up but the lens doesn't have even the slightest of marks on it.Although the plastic of the hood feels cheap, it does have some flexibility so it just got marked up, it didn't shatter or crack or anything. I couldn't be happier considering the alternative.

There is a ring at the end of the lens that twists off. Remove that ring and this hood will attach nicely. (45mm Olympus lens)Great hood!

Works well & nice that it’s reversible. Wish fit was a little tighter… seems a tiny bit loose, otherwise works well & well made.

Well you get what you pay for. After a dozen times on and off the lens one of the locks has already broken. I suspect this will make it from my camera bag to the trash very shortly. I have other JJC lens hood and they work fine. This one as stated very poor quality

Don’t understand all the four and above star reviews, which all seem to be very misleading……one wonders. Shame on me for believing them.The construction method used on this lens hood is just not robust enough for the lens hood to stay attached when carrying the camera on a neck strap on your neck or shoulder. It very consistently falls off the lens after about 100 steps. It does stay on the lens when it just sits on my desk….. not very useful.Of course after one or two falls it gets scratched and is non-returnable, a kind of guaranteed no-returns technique, clever.How is it this has not previously been reported? Perhaps I have a defective one, but I doubt it, as the retention method is simply a very weak plastic “spring” and that is the issue.I have since replaced this one with one made by another vendor that was made very well (cost twice as much) and that hood stays attached to that same lens, in the same carry conditions.You get what you pay for, that rings loudly true here.
