Columbia Silver Ridge™ Utility Pants

I have bought several of these pants as they are fantastic for work. I know they're meant for climbing but I work in a very hot environment that has a ton of sun so I want something to cover my legs and keep the sun off but not something so thick that it makes me overheat. This is the perfect set of pants to resolve that. I still have lots of usable pockets and zippered pockets to make sure certain things don't fall away from me when working. They fit great although I wound up getting a size slightly bigger than I would typically get to make sure they were exceptionally baggy as I feel they are most comfortable that way. Not to mention if you get the light brown they pass is being acceptable enough for most casual situations. Obviously they're not dress pants but better than other hiking equipment and stuff that's a little too on the nose.

cool in summer / tropical heat or fishing hiking yet look nice enough for semi formal attire one thing they do run small so if you wear a 38/34 move up a size.

What my husband likes about these pants is the length, the fabric, and the amazing pockets. It's going to be a great pair of travel pants that dries easily if they get wet. He is 6'2" and 205 pounds. The pants fit looser in the legs for him, but the length is great. He's going to use them for travel and the fit is very comfortable. What he didn't like about the pants is that they didn't come with a belt and the fabric below the zipper had to be sewn because it didn't catch in the sewing machine when they were making it.

These pants fit well and are very lightweight and comfortable. The pockets are nice and big. I've had them for a year and haven't had any issues with rips or wear despite wearing these very frequently. Usually I don't like to spend so much on clothes but these were worth it.

Exactly what he wanted. He needed lightweight comfort with convenient pockets. Columbia products are well-constructed, so they last.

There are a million different pants like this, but I keep coming back to these. They are the perfect weight, have the right fit and are my go-to travel pant.

Silver Ridge hiking pants have been my go-to field pants for 20+ years. I’ve constantly had at least two pairs in varying stages of wear in my rotation. I needed a new pair as an older one eventually lost a battle with some barbed wire. Overall, while these are solid pants, they are not as good as previous versions for several reasons: Material feels thinner and flimsier overall – they don’t feel like they will hold up for years like my previous pairs. Pockets are designed poorly in several ways: All are smaller than my previous versions. The two back pockets lack flaps and are less secure. The two “hands” pockets are cutaway a bit and feel insecure (like contents may fall out). The vertical zip pocket is awkward and too small to be very useful as others have noted. The material has a bit of stretch which feels a bit funny while wearing to me and stretch fabrics also don’t hold up as well as non-stretch in my experience. Potential pros: The pants are very lightweight. If that is a needed feature, these may do well and they’ll dry fast. They feel designed for very hot/humid environs. The fit is good – Columbia hasn’t gotten this wrong. True to size and with good mobility. Overall, I won’t be buying another pair, but will wait for a future version to see if they improve/revert to form.

These pants are what you need when in tropical, humid weather! Easy to wash, lightweight, and sun protection!

Very pleased with these. I usually wear 32x32, and that's what I ordered in Tusk color, and it fits perfectly. The color is also very neutral and versatile and works with a variety of tops. Material is nice, lightweight and slightly textured in a fine waffle-like pattern. Fabric is stretchy, but also doesn't cling to me, so I quite like it. Temperature range for these feels very good, they were equally wearable in +19C as in +30C. They're not incredibly breathable, compared to loosely woven linen for example, but perfect for average local weather. Waistband has a bit of elastic on them, so they have a bit of comfort give at the waist, and come with a black belt which is quite serviceable as well. If I had one nitpick, is that back right pocket is just wide open. Left one has a flap and velcro, but right one is just open top, so I wouldn't trust it with anything important. And it is actually handy to have for something trivial that you need to reach for often, like a handkerchief maybe. I think it's just the lack of symmetry that bugs me, but then it's the same with cargo pockets, the left is a vertical frontal zip and the right is a flap and velcro on top. Overall, I really like these. I can see myself wearing them starting with mid-spring to mid-fall and hardly needing anything else except for maybe a few high heat weeks where I'd need something lighter still. These come in shorts, same name, but no legs, so maybe that.

These pants have a good fit, but are too long. We always by 32x34, but these are more like a 32x36. I hemmed it myself. Quick drying! Lots of pockets, handy for daily wear.
