How does the pencil part work? I press down the clip but no lead comes out?

After the clip is pushed down all the way push it down some more. Keep pushing it down until some lead comes out.

Refills are available on Amazon, and are easy to replace. They currently stock black, blue and assorted (all 4 colors). Look for Pilot Dr. Grip 4+1 Multi-function ball-point ink refills, fine point, pack of 2 black (77151)...
