An icon of 1980s New York, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) first made his name under the graffiti tag “SAMO,” before establishing his studio practice and catapulting to fast fame at the age of 20. Incredible Value
This book is a great introduction to Jean-Michel Basquiat, or, even if one is already familiar with his work and his career it is still a recommended purchase on account of the very good colour reproductions of many paintings/sketches/photos from his short but eventful career. The biography is not overly in-depth, it does cover all the main events of his life and it is very well written, it does not talk down to the reader. I would highly recommend this book, Taschen are becoming a favourite publisher of mine with the basic art series.

Who is a designer and artist, requested this to the Secret Santa. He has exclaimed many times since receiving this book that is is one of the greatest books on his shelf and is very helpful to his art plans - can't say better than that!

As Basquait was very much in vogue when I was at art school, he made, amongst others, including Steven Campbell, a deep impression on my work. However over the years I have become distanced from painting, and this opportunity to re-acquaint my self with his unique and colourful approach, and the zeitgeist has been welcomed.

en cuestión de libros de arte, su principal problema es que suelen se excesivamente caros. si bien este no es el tomo más exhaustivo qué hay sobre basquiat, si es quizás el más accesible, y tomando esto en principal consideración me parece que es excelente.

Good if you don’t know about him at all and also good to keep his works around for quick glances
Good paper quality, good print. Basquiat ofcourse is a mind to sneak into. Book is detailed and insightful.
