Zahariel and Nemiel are just so well written characters! The Lion is also a boss! Everyone will love this read as much as I did. Review: A Greek tragedy in slow motion - The Lion is on one side of the galaxy, attempting to keep critical war materiel out of Horus' hands. On Caliban, Luther is attempting to hold the Dark Angels together as the planet simmers with resentment at being squeezed while the natural beauty is stripped. This really saves the Luther side story. This should've been released as a trilogy, as the books came out with such a separation that you really have to read the original book first. As opposed to Loken, the cast of characters are very much Part 1 vs Part 2, rather than Loken or Garro who are sprinkled through a dozen books.

Slow start but good
It starts a little slower but the second half of the book warns up very well. Not bad at all.

Fantastic, so glad I did not listen to the DA hate!
The last line got me, can't wait to see how that pans out lol. I never much cared for that legion but know a little about their speciality and would love to see how.these are used.

Masterpiece
Of all the 11 horus heresy novels i have read so far this one is the best. Roots of the fallen Dark Angels are very well thought of. I loved twist at the very end of the book. First book about Dark Angels in HH series were a drag. I hated this Astartes Legion because of it but now i am very interested in what will happen next.

Terrific intrigue and action
A magnificent tale of courage, honor, and betrayal. Zahariel is the paragon of knighthood, but he has terrible choices to make. So many questions are left unanswered...I can’t wait for the next chapter.

Very good
I think these Dark Angel books are my favorite of the series. How and why would they turn? Who is good, and who are traitors? So good!

Hmmmm, Dark Angels, nah
This is a good book, except one thing... It doesn't cover any important points in the broader story. You could just skip it and go on to reading about Magnus. If on the other hand, it showed deep characterization regarding the Dark Angel's primarch or showed them in an interesting new light I would rate it higher but I just didn't. The bulk kind of makes up the middle of 2 stories, the story of the planet Caliban, which is started in another book and concluded elsewhere, and the Istvaan arc, of which it is just a footnote among stories from many books. Sorry Jonny (Jonson), but Dark Angels are just one of the most boring legions, partly just because they're always mentioned and had their own Codexes and such, but had hardly any differences from the average Space Marines. I liked many of the parts (I wanted more of the watchers), sometimes feeling like Dan Abnett style writing, but it just didn't have the quirkyness or macho drama of better HH books, and the knights didn't have the religious passion or templar vibe you would expect from a book called Fallen Angels.
