A high quality compact award winning hifi system from a well established hifi company.
This hifi system is very good value for money. For just under £400 you get a high quality complete system with DAB/FM radio, cd player/amplifier combo, matched speakers and a remote control. It is a tried and tested system from a very well known hifi brand and has recently won a What HiFi award. Some people buy the cd player/amplifier for £267 and attach a different brand of speakers either because they already have a pair of speakers or because they think another brand might give better quality sound. However, the Denon speakers have been specially matched by Denon to give the best quality sound from this system. This is a compact system with bookshelf speakers. It cannot give the same quality of sound as a high end full size system costing thousands of pounds. That's not to say that you couldn't improve the sound quality of the Denon system. For example, I have the system on a wooden sideboard which will resonate and interfere with the sound coming from the speakers. Mounting the speakers on speaker stands with special spikes would almost certainly improve the sound quality. Likewise using high end speaker cables or high end mains lead. However, Denon have made a system which by default sounds pretty good but it can be tweaked to suit the listener's personal tastes. To do this it is necessary to download the user manual from the Denon website, which explains how to use the tone control on the remote control handset or how to match the impedance of the amplifier to a pair of headphones. My Beyerdynamic 770's have an impedance of 80 ohms which is the default setting for this system. So, as you can see this is a very sophisticated machine. There are many other things that could be discussed such as the bluetooth function which only works from another device so cannot be used with bluetooth headphones for example. I like the fact that the cd player has a cd drawer(which works very smoothly by the way) and I like the no-nonsense looks of the machine. The remote control handset I think is sensibly laid out and despite the multiplicity of hidden features, with the help of the manual it is exciting to go on a journey of discovery to find these. Until then you can just use the machine with the default settings which are designed to make it a doddle to use. By the way, the quickstart guide is pretty good for setting the machine up, connecting the cables etc and the supplied aerial wire I found gives excellent radio reception on both DAB and FM.

Brilliant, cd mini hifi system from a long standing trusted brand.
I've been collecting and listening to CDs since the 1980s when I was a teenager. I'd been using a Technics seperates system for the past 20 years but one of the speakers started being temperamental. I'd remembered Denon from a while ago and knew they had a good reputation for sound quality and well built units. This model (the D-M41 with Denon speakers) has actually been around since 2017, but the fact that "What HiFi" recently gave it a rave review tells you something. The unit is easy to operate and comes with a nice big remote. It's Bluetooth compatible (I've got it paired with my phone so I can enjoy music i haven't got on cd from YouTube through the speakers). The speakers themselves give a nice bassy sound and the clarity is excellent (the different levels can be adjusted through the sdb/tone button on the remote.) I have them mounted either side of my TV unit on stands (which I bought from another company). I'm glad I got the system in black as it compliments my other electrical equipment. For the price point (I paid just under 400 quid) you can't go wrong.

Denon D-M41 silver
Initially i was looking at cheaper systems like roxel and panasonic among others which i'm sure are pretty good in their own right but after much research could no longer ignore the reviews of this little beauty and then finding out that What hi fi magazine had awarded 5 star ratings for best mini hi fi and best hi fi under 500 pounds on several occasions, i now felt sure i had to buy it or forever regret getting a cheaper one. This Denon d-m41 is a wonderful piece of kit Quality look Quality feel Quality weight but most of all Quality sound, you'll never get a mini system that provides the thunder of a full size power house but that's not the point, it is what it is a bookshelf system the treble is fantastic you get all the guitar strings and cymbals etc crystal clear and the bass has an ample punch. Treble and bass are both adjustable from the remote which by the way is a nice size and very clear to read mine came with flat batteries. Preseting dab radio stations and adjusting treble bass and other features are all easy to do once you've sat down with a nice cup of tea and pick up your smart phone and ask Google anything your not sure about, the answers are all there, you will probably need this option because although the Denon comes beautifully packaged with polystyrene and everything the instructions are very basic that said i do highly recommend also its a good idea to buy telescopic aerial if you don't want the unsightly ribbon type that hangs up the wall. I brought a bingfu magnetic type which easily has strong enough magnet to stick to the side of my metal shelving unit allowing full extension of the 79mm aerial and hey presto dozens of crystal clear dab radio stations. Love it. I've since added an edifier T5 subwoofer to this package it fits in beautifully with its very similar build quality and looks but WOW what an amazing and rounded upgrade to the sound quality especially as my speakers are now nicely run in. This whole package has become an outstanding piece of kit. The subwoofer probably took me the best part of a couple of weeks to get it just right a tiny adjustment at a time but very much worth the time and patience, the end result is a wonderful little hi fi system. If I could go back six months i would definitely buy it all over again. I'm now buying CDs like they're going out of fashion, OH they are? Never. I almost forgot to mention that the Denon also has SDB mode on/off (super dynamic bass) which is very handy for bass boost when listening at low volume.

Hear Music as it was intended
I'll start off by stating I am not an audiophile, didn't know one HiFi from another. So this was a learning curve. I planned and read loads about it before I purchased it. Not all my questions were found online though, but now that I have the HiFi and have used it for 24 hours I was able to answer my own questions. Denon are the Lamborghini of audio equipment, they are without a doubt the best, I've always dreamt about owning one, but because they are high-end they are more expensive that your average brand. Picked up the D-M41DAB, which was on special. So easy to set-up with the informative documentation. This came with the Denon SC-M41 speakers. The speaker cable length(s) are 6 foot each. Both speakers are 30W each. The HiFi also gives the options of adjusting Super Dynamic Bass / Bass / Treble / Balance / Source Direct, great if like me you like Classical, but then want to shift to playing Hard Rock music. Well thought out by Denon. This HiFi also has bluetooth, i have bluetooth on my desktop PC and it was paired in seconds and I am now able to play all my digitally downloaded music seamlessly, fantastic feature. You can pair 8 different bluetooth devices. I am living in the 'Republic of Ireland' and as such the DAB function is of no use here as it is no longer broadcast (ended Summer 2024), as it didn't take off (fingers crossed it might come back). But the HiFi comes with FM and can store 40 stations, you can also edit the station names if needed. The stations are all coming in crystal clear. I used the auto-set feature and in less than a minute it had tuned in all my FM stations. I mainly listen to Classical music and some Rock. I started off by listening to Gioachino Rossini 'William Tell Overture' and I swear i could hear instruments that I could not hear before on cheaper systems. Such a pleasure listening to music as it was intended to be heard. The Triple Noise Reduction was what sold me. The HiFi also has a Protection circuit, in case the unit becomes too hot due to bad ventilation or a hot room, which shuts the HiFi down till it cools enough. Again well thought out by Denon to protect the unit from damage. You can also play MP3 music on CD-R / CD-RW that you have burned on your PC, just make sure to burn as Data CD (MP3 CD won't work). The ID3 tags also appear on the screen, nice to see title and artist whilst playing tracks. I like that the headphone socket is on the front, this was a selling point for me as most brands either had none or they were on the rear (which i thought was clumsy). The remote control is nice and big and well labelled. Some of the Denon CD Player's have USB port and supports FLAC, would have loved this to be on this HiFi, but you cannot have everything. This is my first but not last Denon product, I will be adding a Subwoofer (HiFi has Subwoofer Out) and Vinyl player into the mix at some point in the near future.

Great budget system for getting into vinyl.
For the price this is a good quality stereo. The controls are basically on the remote. The DAB radio is excellent if you want to invest in a telescopic metal aerial. I purchased it with a Denon turntable as I wanted the warmth of vinyl. The speakers supplied are Denon's own. They are now stored in a cupboard. I purchased some with more bass, they are nearly run in now and the sound gets better with every listen. I also have a subwoofer connected through the dedicated output. It is an active sub as the stereo won't power it. Unfortunately, as I live in a semi detached house I can only give the system it's legs when the neighbours are out. The CD player gets a good work out when I play Ramstein, Hawkwind, Marilyn Manson. The record player is for some more musical bands and artists. David Bowie aka, Man who sold the World is an eye opener through the system, as is Talking Heads, Little creatures. When I feel like a total chill I listen to Frank Sinatra from the platinum collection. His vocals are so warm and faithful through the Denon. Yes my music tastes are varied. If you have a limited budget then this is worth the investment. Live with the supplied speakers until you can afford to upgrade them. LISTEN to them at an outlet that sells the system and allows you to connect them to it, then play a range of your music until you find the ones you like. Leave the shop, check if they are cheaper on Amazon then decide.

Worth going with a familiar name...
This was a really excellent buy. I looked at so many Chinese brands I'd never heard of before & then I examined the specific output in watts & reviews of the sound quality. All of this quickly made me realise that paying a reasonable amount for a quality brand was the correct thing to do. I wasn't disappointed, the sound is crisp, whilst resonant with the option of additional base. The additional of Bluetooth & 2 auxiliary inputs is wonderful, whilst the digital radio, (although fiddly to set up), is very good and the CD player is excellent. My husband wanted a new CD player, but now also plays YouTube music via Bluetooth. I'm also considering adding a vinyl turntable. This unit is a must have if you're looking for great sound reproduction without having to buy lots of separates, (e.g. Amp, CD deck, Speakers, etc)

Brilliant Quality
I've not heard of Denon before and it wasn't my first choice. I'm thrilled. The quality of the packaging was excellent and the product was first class. I can't compare it to any other as It's my first one. The build quality is excellent as was the very easy set up process. DAB scanned and all my favourite radio stations came up straight away. I'm using mine for Bluetooth only and have a very old android phone but it scanned and played straight away. My main use is Bluetooth on my fire tablet which wouldn't connect and I was going to return. However after resetting the Bluetooth connection on the Denon and resetting the settings on my fire tablet, the denon paired and I was good to go. The sound quality I think is excellent and I will be playing with the settings over the coming weeks. Overall for the price, quality and overall performance I am extremely impressed.

Brilliant
Well, the Internet will tell this a a no-brainer initial set up for anyone who enjoys listening to music, and the Internet is right. It's a gorgeous and powerful bit of kit. I can't fault it in any way so far. Love the sound, the price was reasonable for the performance. It has Bluetooth, the remote works as intended. I love it.
