I have moved on to much better Epson
Definitely not durable. I bought this product 2 different times and the two different times it stated to pixel-ate very quickly. I have moved on to much better Epson Projectors

Failed after 120 hours of use
When I want a presentation to look fantastic, I take this projector. It's larger, heavier and pricier than some, but it's brilliantly bright and sharp with perfect color reproduction. When switched off, the fan turns on really high for a few seconds, and presumably cools the bulb down sufficiently to pack it right away. It's been a few years since I bought it, and my model doesn't have HDMI input. Aside from that, it was a great buy. Update Nov 2017: I've owned this projector for close to a decade, but used it only about 30 times for a total of maybe 120 hours. The output has developed white spots, indicating that the internal screen has failed. Problem 1: That's an awfully short lifespan, dropped my rating from 5* to 3*. Problem 2: InFocus put me in touch with their authorized repair facility, Mendatronix, who quoted $195 for labor. Sounds reasonable. And what about the part? They refused to quote on that. "You'll need to send it in for an assessment. Which will cost you $85." Wait a minute! We know exactly what part is required, but it will be $85 just to figure out the cost of having this repaired versus buying a new projector? This drops my rating to 2* - a generous rating because it was a good projector while it worked. But after a rotten experience like this, I'm not about to have this repaired by Mendatronix. So it will be a new projector. Not an InFocus.

BEWARE - No HDMI
I spent a LOT of time researching projectors and learning what makes them good and what makes them bad. I chose this projector out of many options because it was the perfect middle ground between really high and really low quality. There were others similar to this one, similar in price and picture quality, but were lacking in the nice firmware features that InFocus implemented. If you don't have the mind or time to figure out what is the BEST upper-middle class projector, then take my word for it, this is the one you want. HOWEVER - I finally got around to setting this up and am FLABBERGASTED that this product did not have an HDMI port!!! This is HDMI age people, what are you thinking InFocus??? HDMI is CHEAP and easy to integrate! HDMI IS the medium for high resolution - come on!!! I'm SOOOO disappointed that this did not come with built-in HDMI. Really wish I had noticed that during all my research, its the one thing that seemed so OBVIOUS that the project would have, that I didn't even think to verify. This has caused me to waste a few hundred dollars now, because I got all the adapters and system needed to effectively transmit an HDMI high-resolution signal to the projector only to find out the projector won't accept it. Now what am I supposed to do? Buy another $50 item that needs plugged in to transfer hdmi back to analog outputs? Thats so dumb! SUMMARY SO BUYER BEWARE - If you need HDMI do NOT get this projector! Otherwise, its the best of the lot for upper-middle class projector - great picture, great features - but this lack of HDMI is a REAL KILLER for me. PS: Do NOT bother getting InFocus' proposed hardware for transmitting audio/video wirelessly. Their solution dubbed "Liteshow" does not work well at all, and only works on Windoze to boot. The best solution for high-resolution transfer of synchronized audio/video is the HDMI transmitter that I bought - works on all systems that have HDMI output. Sadly, its completely worthless on this projector.

Sharp picture, colors a little cool
We purchased this projector for use in the worship center of our small church building. The picture is very sharp, and we plan to upgrade our screen to a wide-screen size soon, and that will take advantage of the projector's full capabilities. It is easy to use, easy to get set up. The colors seem not to be as vibrant as the projector we just replaced, however. The blues especially seem to be washed out. We may be able to adjust for that, but have not been able to figure it out yet.

Great!
I had this projector for 1 more than year now. No regret. Things you should know when you buy this projector vs others: Depending on the use you may want to sacrifice some dynamic (contrast ratio) for more brightness (lumens), at a given price. - 3000:1 may be a small contrast ratio compared to some other projectors of its category. You may be interested in this projector if you are NOT building a private home theater, and work in rooms with a fair amount of background light: such as in a room with blinders closed on a sunny day for instance. In this case, you may not want to invest in a projector with a high contrast ratio, as some of the dynamic will be absorbed in the background light (=money wasted). In a dark room, this projector still produce a very acceptable image, very bright with crispy colors. - 3000 lumens is pretty bright for its category. As said before, this projector will overcome most of the background light if you take care of dimming down the room properly. It is also 3D capable in 720p. Higher brightness is preferable when projecting in 3D since the 3D glasses attenuate the light as well. Watching 3D movies and games on a 100" to 262" screen is truly a blast. - The lamp is the SP-LAMP-057 which sells from $110 to $249 IN2112 IN2114 Replacement Lamp 3000 Hours , depending on where you get it. I personally replace my lamp every 1500 hours. Keep in mind that the brightness decreases over time, and that is true for almost every projectors. In other words, you should allow an overhead budget cap to pay for the lamps when you buy a projector. To give you an idea, 3000 hrs (lifetime for this lamp at full power) is about 4 months. So you can watch 4 months of movies 24/7 non-stop before you would have to buy another lamp. If you turn you projector off after each use, you can do easily a year without changing the lamp. Keep also in mind that sellers or reviews videos will comment on "new" projectors with maximum brightness, so do not get fooled: a 1500 lumens projector does not deliver 1500 lumens after 3000 hours of use, you may end up with a pretty weak picture. - There is no filter to change. That is a good thing compared to the other projectors I owned. Less things to buy. - There is no HDMI on this model. Although it works perfectly with a good quality XVGA cable. Make sure it is properly shielded and as short as possible. A bad cable will introduce noise in the signal which is generally observed by moving streaks. - The projector has capacitive touch sensors used as buttons. It's neat but mine does not always work (I found a ground problem), but it does not matter since I use the remote all the time. - I love the blue light ring at night, it gives a nice and peaceful atmosphere when you go to sleep (may be switched off if you like).

great throw distance
This is one slick projector! The picture is very sharp and accurate , great throw distance, nice and bright, super easy to use menus and buttons. The 3d works without a glitch, I have tested it with 60 fps with Need for Speed RIvals , no artifacts blur or anything, superb detail and 0 lag. It really feels like your are in the game with a 120 inch 3D game going ! The glowing ring reminds me of bmw halos and is pretty neat, I do not like the fact that I had to purchase an hdmi adapter. However an ultra cheap adapter worked perfect with full 3d so it is not a big deal, and this projector is priced decent for being 720P and 1080P capable. I would highly recommend this to any buyer, I have used mine for more than 3000 hours and it has yet to dissapoint me. This is the third infocus I have owned and have not a single problem yet, good job Infocus!

Very surprised , a new crowd pleaser
Honestly, this is a very high quality unit. I was unsure at first, but after a few months of use I can say that this is worth the money for sure. The picture is very bright and super sharp. I have used this for DJ performance and my crowds have grown bigger and bigger since incorporating two of these units in my shows. The picture looks good even over 200 inches and I have used thses for periods over 8 hours straight without any overheating or problems so far. Great lamp life and very sexy looks as well with glowing blue "halo" bmw style. Fives stars, not having built in hdmi did not bother me, I have a few adapters already. They only cost $5- $30 if you need one just google it.

Great Economic Projector
Great projector... It looks fantastic. It doesn't have HDMI but get the Kanex ATVPRO Adapter and you'll be fine! Very sharp for the money.
