In Independence Day , a scientist played by Jeff Goldblum once actually had a fistfight with a man (Bill Pullman) who is now president of the United States. That same president, late in the film, personally flies a jet fighter to deliver a payload of missiles against an attack by extraterrestrials. Independence Day is the kind of movie so giddy with its own outrageousness that one doesn't even blink at such howlers in the plot. Directed by Roland Emmerich, Independence Day is a pastiche of conventions from flying-saucer movies from the 1940s and 1950s, replete with icky monsters and bizarre coincidences that create convenient shortcuts in the story. (Such as the way the girlfriend of one of the film's heroes--played by Will Smith--just happens to run across the president's injured wife, who are then both rescued by Smith's character who somehow runs across them in alien-ravaged Los Angeles County.) The movie is just sheer fun, aided by a cast that knows how to balance the retro requirements of the genre with a more contemporary feel. -- Tom Keogh Review: Excelente remasterización en 4K - Si ya has visto esta película en Blu Ray sabrás la alta calidad de imagen que la película ofrece en ese formato por lo que surgen dudas si vale la pena o no comprarla en 4K. La respuesta a la pregunta es: Sí, lo vale. Esta remasterización eleva el nivel de detalles de la película ofreciendo una imagen clara, sin presencia de defectos o compresión ni una evidente reducción de ruido, de hecho la imagen conserva el ruido digital el cuál luce bastante orgánico en la imagen. El HDR es conservador pero destaca donde tiene que hacerlo, mostrando unos colores puros, sin saturar, muy naturales y unos detalles en piel, rostro, ropa, objetos, etc., sobre todo en tomas de cerca. Es de esas veces en las que ves una película que ya has visto muchas veces pero tienes la sensación de estar viéndola por primera vez porque parece algo nuevo y distinto por su calidad. Review: The Product - There are countless sites where movies are rated, but it all comes down to a personal opinion, everyone’s taste is different. I’ve never been influenced about what movie I choose to watch by reading a review, whether it is by someone who gets paid for writing it or some other person I don’t know. Ratings are done after the fact .. . saying they should have shot it a different way or they should have chosen a different actor doesn’t change the finished product and never will. What should be reviewed here is the physical product that was purchased … is it as advertised, is the pressing free from defects, is the sound track recorded properly and possibly is a better (in this case UHD 4k) version better than a standard BluRay or even a standard DVD version. My belief is that recording old classic B&W movies in 4k is a waste, it can’t improve how it was shot or the analog soundtrack and it actually detracts from the way the creators of that movie intended it to look and sound. More recent, yes even twenty year old movies can be worth the extra effort to record it to UHD media if the customer has the proper playback and viewing equipment. THIS MOVIE I bought this because this movie has been regarding as being one that is truly worth getting in UHD, and besides that it’s a movie I wanted to watch. The presentation is great, the pressing is excellent, the soundtrack (through my surround sound system) is breathtaking and the cost is reasonable, not much more than renting it and watching a compressed streaming version. YES OR NO For a truly enjoyable movie watching experience I not only liked the movie but the disc pressing is as good as it gets.
