Great map Light. I mounted mine up high. I can light up the center console or aim it at each side for driver/passenger. Love the fact that it comes with a red filter, but you have to change them out completely. Its easy but cumbersome and I can see losing the red lens easily. I put mine in the center console.I would recommend one thing. Upgrade your bulb! The stock bulb is incandescent and not as bright as it could be. Just look on here for a BA9S type bulb. Its a simple twist lock connection. I could only get any new LED bulb I tried to go in about a quarter turn, but it stays in and works just fine. There are many bulbs to choose from. I finally found a good one I like and it is 10x brighter!!!

I was able to replace its original 6W bulb with a lower wattage bulb I found (1815 LAMP, INCANDESCENT, MINI BAYONET/BA9S, 14V, 2.8W) and that way I can have it on while driving at night. The original 6W bulb is quite bright on a dark cabin and gets hot after a while. A big plus is that being incandescent there is no blue light to disrupt your sleep.

Let me start by saying this unit hasn't changed at all in at least 30 years. We used them in our ralley cars back in the late 80s-early 90s. They looked cool, and worked well for night driving with a co-driver. The design is ancient with an incandescent bulb, and semi-shoddy plastics, but the neck holds position even during off road bashing. I immediately put a good LED bulb in and now am happy. These are meant to be direct wired and that's what I've done on mine. Looks good, works good, will last forever.

The media could not be loaded. So it's a good light but the plastic is a bit weak. I'm not thrilled with the build quality. I tossed the screws that came with it and used stainless with nuts on the backside to make sure it stays affixed securely. All in all tho it's a pretty good light for the purpose.

I have long wanted a reliable and fully functional reading light in my car. I had previously bought several flexible lights designed to plug in to the cigarette lighter power outlet and found them to be flimsy, fragile and inadequate. I finally took the plunge and paid a little extra for this lamp, and I am very glad I did. It did take a little work to find an appropriate mounting location and tie it in to the power supply, but it was well worth the effort.Please be aware that this lamp is installed with screws, and that it comes with bare wires that must be spliced in to the wires behind an existing 12 volt power outlet. I cut the existing wires and used screw-on connectors to tie everything together so I could continue to use the power outlet. (The wires on the lamp are kind of short, but that wasn't a problem for me because I mounted it close to the power outlet.) The light doesn't seem to draw much current and I am still able to plug in and use my phone charger at the same time. I am totally satisfied with this product and I highly recommend it to anyone who is not afraid to go through the installation process with a few simple tools.
