Yes they are not stainless so you have to oil them when you put them up! They hold an edge great after I re edged and sharpened. Love these knives, I use them daily!

Context for you. I cook all my meals almost every day. Needless to say there is a lot of prep that is involved. I have professional sharpening stones that work great. Every single knife in this set will take an edge great and get scary sharp but I have to sharpen them what feels like too frequently.Don’t dish wash these ether. Hand wash only!! Trust me on that. They come oiled to protect from rust. You will want to retain some of that oil on the handle and re-oil the blades so they don’t rust.

Sadly I was deeply regretful after receiving this. I have several complaints but most importantly is that these knives are made very poorly to the major balancing issue to the bag it came in which was already lacerated. The rust came in quick the staining of citric acid is irreversible. The paint faded away after the first hand wash. Although I kept oiled after each use the rust quickly set in. The blades are to thin so much so that the bread knive almost broke with in the first cut. Came in sharp but after 2 tomatoes ( I know ) but still took a major toll on them. After a half case of lemons the acid had discolored the metal permanently. Very sad day after realizing the quality didn't make the beauty or the "value".

The leather case is quality leather, each knife came triple packaged and pre-oiled, they are super sharp, quality of the knives are excellent, weight of them are nice to to light but too heavy easy to use, i got mine during prime days so i got a great deal on them. Not sure about the negative comments but if you take care of them you should get years of use out of them. Aka don’t put them in dishwasher

The blades are sharp and very nice. Not as heavy as I expected, but thats alright. I did notice that the red bleeds out of the handles and the knives don't seem to have been cleaned up much at all before packaging and shipping. Overall, I really don't think I'd pay almost $200 for these knives again but its not a bad set.

Quality construction and sharp!

I bought these for my daughter as a Christmas present. She called me when they arrived and was so happy with them. They are much too pretty to be kept in a drawer so we are trying to figure out a nice way to display them.
