Rock Hudson and Anne Baxter have but One Desire in this heartfelt and powerful drama set in the Old West. Hoping to escape their shady pasts, two former saloon workers, Clint (Hudson) and Tacey (Baxter), move to a small town with Clint's younger brother (Barry Curtis) and an orphaned girl (Natalie Wood). Clint takes a job at a bank in order to gain some respectability, but he soon catches the eye of the banker's daughter (Julie Adams), who will do anything to get her man. From producer Ross Hunter (Imitation of Life) comes a riveting and romantic Western about gambling everything for a chance at a better life.

Great Movie
Have been looking for this movie for years - I saw it when it originally came out and have always been a fan. It seems dated but that doesn't matter. Great cast and enjoyable.

Good period piece with wonderful stars
It's called a western, but I didn't see much that it could be called that genre. However, it's a very good costume drama with a wonderful Anne Baxter and a spiteful Julie Adams. It's a typical Ross Hunter production - glossy and colorful. Recommended!

I have wanted this movie for a long time.....it was more than I expected......color and sound are great as well as the wonderful cast.....what a lovely young Natalie!
