A mile wide and an inch deep
The author has gone to great lengths to tell us multitudes of discrete facts regarding the writing, publishing, filming, casting, revitalizing, and capitalizing of GWTW, but none of the areas she addresses has much depth. For instance, she mentions that the various re-releases were restored, but she does not explore this beyond simply stating that it was so. There is a wealth of information regarding the Technicolor filming process and the difficulties in restoring it, but she didn't touch on any of this beyond telling us that the Technicolor filming process was so intricate that the Technicolor company sent a representative to do the filming himself. Why was it intricate? What was involved? How did the director communicate his wishes to the cinematographer, who after all wasn't an employee of the studio per se but of Technicolor? You'll have to go elsewhere for answers to these questions. I know from reading other sources that the film had three different negatives for visuals alone (plus a fourth for sound), and that they were discoloured and misshapen after decades of poor storage. There were also multiple prints made. Why not delve into this fascinating subject, including the painstaking process of colour-correcting each frame using David O. Selznick's personal print of the film? For that matter, why not explore the history of David O. Selznick's personal print? I.e., why was this print considered the standard by which the restorations were to be compared? Was it stored better or something, or was it a different format altogether? How do we know that this particular print retains the correct colour? Furthermore, I would have enjoyed in-depth discussions regarding the designing and fitting of costumes and the restoration issues with the few remaining costumes, but this book only gives us the name of the costume designer and a couple of sentences about the costumes' needing restoration. You'll have to go elsewhere for more information about these topics, too. By and large, the book confines itself to things like thumbnail biographical sketches of every single actor with a speaking role in the film, Margaret Mitchell's father's profession (lawyer), and so forth. There are a couple of positives about the book, however: The inclusion of scathing blurbs about the abject failure of Scarlett and The Wind Done Gone, respectively Alexandra Ripley's and Alice Randall's absolutely appallingly bad sequels, were priceless; and we get to read brief plot outlines for the two proposed sequels that were rejected prior to Ripley's.

Gone with the wind trivia book
My mom is a fan and liked the book but many questions were awfully hard even for a great fan like herself.

I love Gone With the Wind
I love Gone With the Wind. I have seen the movie and read the book hundreds of times and thought I knew everything there was to know about it. Since reading this trivia book, I realise I dont know as much as I thought I did. This book tells you everything - all the behind the scenes things, all about the pre-production and all the nitty gritty stuff. This book tells how Selznick was able to get the actors that he wanted to sign on the dotted line, all the actors backgrounds and what they thought about being part of a movie from a very popular book. There are a few trivia questionnaires and I did not do as well as I thought I would. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves Gone with the Wind. or for anyone who thinks they know everything about Gone with the Wind.

Love this book and very interesting!
This book is a great supplement to my "Gone With the Wind" library. I love reading little tidbits that I either didn't remember, or wasn't aware of concerning the making of the movie. Good reading ... especially in these COVID-19 stay at home times. Enjoying it immensely!

Interesting Tidbits
I always enjoyed Gone With The Wind movie showings on tv, but the Complete GWTW Trivia Book is an extra treat. A lot of interesting tidbits in there, Pauline Bartel digs deep. For any GWTW fan, this is an entertaining book.

A great book
Gone with the Wind is a standing joke in our family as my mother affectionately (hhmm, now that I'm older I'm not so sure it is affectionate!!) calls my step father Ashley Wilks. I bought this for my step fathers birthday and he loved it, a really wonderful book
