Ecco Men's Helsinki Slip-On

I have been wearing the Ecco Helsinki shoe for 20 years, last pair purchased in 2014. It was time for a new pair, and upon trying them, I immediately knew something was off.Upon looking through the shoe, I discovered the root cause of the problem.This shoe has always been made in Portugal, and it was a great disappointment to see it is now made in China.The difference is immediately noticeable: the shoe is too tight, the padding is thinner, and the leather is inferior. Even the Shock Point Heel is no longer red.Shame on you Ecco for sacrificing such a good shoe to such inferior quality standards.Obviously, the shoe was returned, never to be purchased again....

One of the shoes had two defects. There was an obvious issue with the poor cut of the leather near the elastic of the tongue. The other problem was a small bubble on the leather near the outside heal.The lack of red paint on the sole was concerning as well. This prompted a call to ECCO's customer service. They assured me that it is not unusual for this feature to be missing and that Amazon is an authorized seller of ECCO shoes.It almost goes without saying, but I immediately returned these shoes. A replacement pair was quickly shipped and received.For the second pair, I think some of the stitching on the top portion of one shoe got off track a bit, so that could have been done better. It's not enough to go through the return process again.My last pair of Helsinki ECCOs we're made in Portugal and they have held up very well over 5 years of almost daily use. These ECCOs sold via Amazon are manufactured in China. There are slight differences compared to the pictures on Amazon. As mentioned, there is no red dot. The writing around the edge of the inner sole is also not there. In addition, the stitch pattern on the back of the heal that runs from side to side is not present. I called ECCO a second time and they advised that the missing stitch is possibly due to updates with the style of shoe. At the very least, the seller should update the pictures to match the product.Compared to my previous Helsinki ECCO shoes made in Portugal, these Chinese-made shoes sure do make me feel like they are a knockoff. Without reassurance from ECCO, I would not have purchased them through Amazon.

This is my second pair of these shoes. I bought my first pair and they lasted for years! You can easily get 2 years out of these shoes in an office environment. I think I had my first pair for 5 years. The structure of the shoe (heel, sole, etc) never wore out. It got to the point I was wearing them all the time because they were so comfortable and I could slip them on. Eventually, because of my shoe abuse (changing oil in them, walking around the yard, etc) the shoe leather was just getting too worn looking. I still have the original pair to kick around in, and the new pair will be more of my office shoe. I expect to get another 5 years out of. They’re super comfortable, last forever. Originally purchased, I bought a10-1/2. With this pair, 10-1/2s didn’t fit and I needed to go for an 11. My normal shoe is 10-1/2 Wide, and the 11s are great.

I bought these shoes for a friend that went on a Mission to Mexico for 2 years. He said that they lasted well and he walked on his feet all day. He typically takes a size 8.5 to size 9. I ordered the 40 EU because the first time he bought these, he tried them on in a store and that is the size that fit his feet. I am not sure about the size chart as I just took his word that his shoes were a 40 EU when I ordered them. It took a very long time before they started to fall apart. But again, realize that he walked all the time from like around 9am until 10pm all day long every day for 2 years. He also did not polish or take care of them that often. The leather stayed together well. This is the 2nd pair that he requested. So because of what he told me about them, I am giving these shoes 5 stars. He still has them and wears them to work.

I just realized I have had these shoes for 5 and half years, and I originally forgot to write my review. I still wear them and have worn them regularly over the years. They have even been exposed to all the elements, sun, rain, and snow. The leather does of course show wear on them, but the material itself is still holding up as ever. They have a nice worn look to them now. It is quality stuff and polishes up fine. Only the insoles have had to be replaced (as with any older shoe). They are the most comfortable casual dress shoe I have ever owned. On some days I have worn them all day comfortably. They could even pass as comfortable walking shoe. These are a keeper.

I started wearing these as a consultant who flew a lot and before TSA Pre-Check was a thing. But I still wear them despite being at a normal desk job. They're great in a household where everyone removes their shoes at the door.I think I wear them for more walking than they were intended, as I live half a mile from my office and walk everywhere. The one negative thing I have to say about these is that they lack good arch support -- but they're slip-ons -- that's sort of an unfair expectation. So even when I get a brand new pair, I immediately put in a pair of  Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel Work Insoles, Men's Sizes 8-13, 1 Pair  to keep from getting plantar fasciitis. Even with lots of sidewalk-miles, these tend to last a good year before the soles are smooth. The leather polishes up nicely even after the abuse of winter salty slush.

These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I put them on and felt like Cinderella trying on the other glass slipper - they fit like a glove, and although I have arthritis in my feet I can walk briskly along the street with no pain at all, and Ecco is a highly regarded company with a well-deserved reputation. When these shoes wear out I shall definitely be making another order for an identical pair, if they're still manufacturing them. I knew I couldn't go wrong if I ordered Ecco, and I was correct.

These shoes were bought for my husband, who has arthritis in both knees and an ankle. They are to replace a previous identical pair which have finally worn out - having lasted for years. He found this new pair instantly comfortable and they help with his walking. They are durable and look smart. Expensive but thoroughly recommended.

The assembly was quite poor. You can see glue marks and cuts are not even. Something what you expect from £20 shoes but not £100. Comfortable but poor quality made and esthetics looks like a cheap shoe. Not worth the money.

Bought these to replace a very similar pair of Eccos that lasted 3 years of everyday work wear.Although maybe 2 or 3 times more than I normally had spent on shoes they have resulted in being much better value for money than buying cheaper shoes that don't last. These as the last pair I had are extremely comfortable and ideal for being on your feet all day. Highly recommend!
