I've ordered the item before. This time, it came exactly to specifications. I'm not sure why it deserves five stars. I got what I paid for. Is that an A+?

I use this square thick gel pad in my car. I had a accident and fell on my behind and as a consequence I have been experiencing pain for over a year every time I get out of my car. My car seat is very hard. After placing this on my car seat, I no longer experience any pain at all when getting out, and the ride is more comfortable too. And I think my injury is finally starting to heal.Pros:Real Relief From a Hard Car Seat.Cons:1) This pad is 2" thick as advertized, so it will raise your height a little in the car seat. I did notice but it's not a problem for me.2) I ordered the black model but got a blue model. I will keep it. But when I reorder another one for the house, I will call to make sure they send me a black one.Overall: Excellent product. Four Stars because I got a blue pad instead of the black one I ordered.

Under the Product Description the Item Weight is listed as 6.1 ounces. It actually weighs 5 lbs! I wanted to take it on our vacation for my wheelchair, but this is too much to handle. The same holds true for the next size up, item 14886: Description says 12 ounces, but actually weighs over 5 lbs.Drive Medical: please correct the Item Weights on your products.

I have a problem with my sciatic and piriformis and suffer from fibromyalgia. If I sit on a hard surface for 5 minutes, I get pain and numbness in my glutes and down the right leg so I end up squirming as I drive. I bought this for a car seat, which is too hard (they are all too hard in new cars). I have tried other cushions and I think this one is great. It's got the right ingredients of size and thickness and is not too firm or too soft. The 2 inch thickness is great. I'll use it for a week and write an update. It's a heavy cushion (3 lbs or so), so it does not move around on the car seat. It's very resilient and has the right amount of cushioning. I am 160 lbs male and this works very well so far for me. It does raise you up by 2 inches but I just lower the car seat all the way down and it's fine. I am only 5 foot 7 though. The gel is hidden deep inside the foam cushion and there's a sturdy cover and a handle built in. You should definitely give this one a try. I like the size, 18x16. I actually wish it was even a little bigger. I hid the cushion under a seat cover so the seat looks good. I may get one for the passenger side because my sister also has pain when she sits and the price is good.

Even though my 89-year-old mother-in-law is still ambulatory with a walker, some distances are too far for her to walk, so she has a wheelchair. She also uses the wheelchair in home, at table, because it is safer for her than her regular dining room chairs, and easier for her to use than the armed "captain's" chairs that we tried out with her. The Drive Medical 2" gel cushion makes it much more comfortable for her to sit at table in the wheelchair, and also provides some cushioning against the little bumps and shocks of wheelchair transport out of doors. We chose the 2" over the 3" to maintain the right height for the table, without sacrificing any quality or comfort. We are considering the purchase of another Drive Medical gel seat cushion in a larger size for her rocker-recliner, rather than going to a lift-chair, so that she can get better lift from the chair, and still retain the rocker feature, which is calming for many Alzheimer's patients.As for the cushion itself, it is a high-quality, durable aid, which fits nicely in the seat of the Drive Medical wheelchair. It is easy to wipe, and has a good, hefty feel to it. It remains comfortable after many hours of use.

This is an extremely well made cushion. It is slightly heavy but it won't be something you necessarily move around much and it does have a carry handle on one side for that purpose.I bought it for my elderly dad who spends a lot of time now in his electric scooter, and had been complaining of an aching hip at the end of the day.He says it's very comfortable, and much more cushy than the scooter seat. It does have a "gel" like feel to the top - the bottom may be foam. It did raise him up in the seat a few inches, and I was a little worried he might not fit under the kitchen table when he rolled up to it, but it worked fine.For the quality and durability of workmanship, I think this is a good purchase.
