It does the job yes - if you are looking for a cheap ominidirectional than this might be for you. HOWEVER For my needs in a grocery store enviroment -1. Feels cheap and light plastic however its sturdy in a sense - not tipping over or falling over2. the Bright Light stays on far too long after the transaction - its really really annoyingly bright3. Omni Directional like 50% of the time.4. Bar codes that are shorter than 7 numbers older brands like Coke can sodas, snickers, skittles, bluebird juices etc -that I know for sure is in my system and that has scanned previously with my handheld - beeps like its not. So i had to re-add them again. I don't know why this is happening.5. its slow - and for a grocery store that is not good. I have to wiggle the item in front of the scanner a few times - which wastes time.6. honestly if i had not thrown away the box.. i would have sent this back and invested in a brand name even it was used. These Chinese made electronics are not worth the time and the effort. When will I ever learn7. For a bookstore, clothing or another slower paced purpose it should work perfectly The shipping was fast so that's good. But no, no, no for me. will try to resell it. lord help me.
