Excellent tool

Aviation snips are only meant to cut about 1/4” wide strip at a time cleanly. Don’t try to plow through the middle of a piece of 20g steel with them. Make a rough cut by some other means. If used properly, these are a remarkable value. For the red handles, the scrap will curl up to the left side. The greens will curl the scrap up on the right. The offset handles will keep your hand up and away from the sharp metal edge. I have used these daily for more than 15 years to trim 18-20g steel and 16g Aluminum. They are awesome and stay sharp quite a while—probably about a year if you use them every day. You can trim remarkably fine slivers off the edge of a panel if needed. You can become emotionally attached to them after a year or more of excellent service, but it’s ok to let ‘em go and get another pair. I have tried more expensive kinds, but they just aren’t as good as these in my opinion.

These cutters are robustly made and very sturdy. The serrated "gripping" side to the blades does an excellent job of holding the material. The offset angle helps get at your work, even in a tight space, while preserving the strength of the cutting force. I used them to trim steel "T-bar" false ceiling rails, and they almost always cut through each side and the central part cleanly, without any problem, although a two-handed grip was required to cut through the thicker central main rail sections. When sighting your cut, be prepared to offset your blades about 1/8" if sighting from the serrated side of the nearest blade, to have the cut where you want it - experiment on a scrap piece.

Using these to cut metal roofing panels. Works great!

They work well for commercial hvac duct work. The locking mechanism is not to spec, doesnt latch, and sometimes gets in the way while cutting, but for the price these are good enough for me!

I put a metal roof on my chicken coop for the first time. When I was done I had to trim off 10 inches on one side. At first I just used some standard metal cutters - HUGE mistake! It lefts horrible razor edges and it was impossible to keep a straight line. I gave in and bought the right tool for the job and they worked amazing. The grip is perfect and make it easy to control. They cut with very little effort and make it easy to keep a straight line. When I went back and fixed my shotty first attempt it came out perfect. Glad I have these they are super durable and I will definitely use them again.
