I own a Schumacher Model SJ5 that I have owned for years and I have used it to jump everything from a riding lawnmower to a 3.8L V6 Ford Mustang. After 7 years of selfless service the SJ5 is starting to lose some jumping power. When looking for a replacement jump starter the Schumacher SJ1329 was a no brainer.Just like the Schumacher SJ5, the Schumacher SJ1329 is heavy duty and well built. The Schumacher SJ1329 is simple to use. Simply hook up the cables and start the vehicle. The Schumacher SJ1329 has a small push switch on the front to check the charge on the battery. When you connect the jumper cables to the vehicle requiring a jump start and press the switch on front, the battery indicator may go from green to yellow or even red depending on the condition of the battery in the vehicle requiring a jump start. This is totally normal based on my experience with the Schumacher SJ5. Once the vehicle is started the jump starter indicator will be green.Here's the most important reason to buy a jump starter and carry it in your vehicle at all times. About 3 weeks ago, I went to the store and then to the gas station to fill up my 2009 Toyota Yaris. After gassing up, I turned the key and to my surprise, nothing except click, click, click. Caught me off guard and a total surprise that my battery was nearly five years old. Thankfully, someone helped me, I got the car home, and replaced the battery. The point is that for most people it is so easy to lose track of time since you replaced your vehicle battery. Ever since that day, I always carry the Schumacher SJ1329 in whatever vehicle me or my wife are driving.The Schumacher SJ1329 is a reasonably priced fully functional jump starter for 4 cylinder engines. Schumacher is a brand you can trust to deliver in both quality and performance.

I load tested and all I could get was 200 amps. Open it up and the jumper cables are connected directly to the battery. There is no mechanism in here that converts it to 1000a. Then again I have never once believed any brand converting 5 amps to 2500 amps (my noco 2500a - died prematurely) or this, 12v 9ah to 1000a.Anyhow, knowing these batteries will die within two years. I opened it up and swapped it out to a lithium battery. If it can last me 5 years I’ll swap it again 😂. Fits perfectly (got lucky) so long as you don’t reinstall the spacer. I extended the short red wires for the + and that was all it took. I also wanted to remove the pump but I left it all in there. Looks robust. Pay attention to the battery brand and ah if you want to do this too.Cheers

Used for 4 months, in good conditionThe pump pressure is slightly insufficient and takes longer to reach the required pressure.

I had been having problems with my car battery and purchased this device to use instead of calling roadside assistance. I attempted to use it for the first time 4days ago and FAIL ...did not work!The device itself may be defective because it was fully charged displaying a green light but when I connected it to my car the status light changed and displayed yellow then red. I charged it again with the same results. I wanted to return it but I was 2 weeks out of the 30 day return policy. It really is disappointing that this is the type of product that you won't know doesn't work or is defective within the return period because there's no way to test it until you need it. Going to trash this useless machine and spend a little extra money to buy the DeWalt version which is what the roadside assistance technicians always use.

I purchased this unit as a replacement for an older one whose battery was failing, which is to be expected after a number of years. This new unit has a strong battery, which easily started a vehicle with a V6 engine in cold temperatures (30's). It is more powerful and smaller than my old unit, and does not weigh more, and perhaps weighs a bit less. The auxiliary power ports ( USB, 12V) I found useful in the past, so having these was important to me.I much prefer using this for jump starting because it has a power switch for the battery cables and a reverse polarity indicator, which are good safety features, especially as compared to jump starting from another car. The power switch prevents sparking when connecting the cables to the battery, which can cause an explosion in some circumstances.My only initial disappointment was the short battery cable, which required that the unit be placed near the battery (the old one could be placed on the ground). It needs to be placed within a foot or so of the car battery. I do not see that this will create any problems on my current vehicles.

Very light yet very powerful.I have a Diesel truck that normally takes a lot to start it but it jumped it off with no problem. I was surprised at how powerful this small jumper is. I would definitely buy it again.

We have needed it twice now and are less than impressed. The battery crapped out on my son's grand prix and this thing would not start the car. Had to put the charger on the battery for 10 mins then use this and it started.
