Q: I do leather jewelry making and use lots of leather punch tools. Would this work?

The poundo board is durable, and can resist any punch. Can't design without it.

Q: I tried hole punching on leather with this, and it wouldn’t go through the leather. But dented the poundo board. Why?

Because it is rubber..... and rubber is flexible and will bend if used alone. It is taking the forced through the leather. You need a solid steel anvil block or granite under the the rubber board

Q: Seller, is this just like using a cutting mat or is this different in any significant way?

We use this when we pound grommets in to tarps we made. It's not a big item. It's not big enough to use as a cutting mat. Nancy

Q: What are the dimensions of this mat?

it is 12X12x3/8 or 12X24X3/8 inches depending on what option you choose and the thickness can vary a little bit from what I gather.
